Engrle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cooper fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Engrle tries a low kick but Cooper avoids it.

Cooper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Engrle controls Cooper momentarily but Cooper frees himself.
Cooper thows a big elbow that misses.
Engrle wants to sweep but no luck.

Cooper postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Engrle is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cooper, into his guard.

Engrle sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cooper's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Engrle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cooper does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cooper is controlling Engrle's trapped leg to prevent Engrle from advancing to side control.
Engrle is trying to control. Cooper wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Engrle wants to pass to mount but Cooper is defending the position.
Cooper is not content to let Engrle control the position.
Cooper wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Engrle moves in looking to clinch but Cooper pushes him off.

Engrle throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Cooper stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Engrle follows into mount!

Engrle cracks Cooper with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerns tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chimpo was well out of range. Poor timing from Kerns.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Chimpo crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kerns - the referee stops the clock and Chimpo gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kerns. Chimpo manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

and Kerns counters with a leg kick.

Kerns keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kerns throws a looping overhand right but Chimpo ducks down to avoid it.
Kerns stuffs the takedown attempt from Chimpo. Chimpo gets slowly back to his feet.

Chimpo misses the shot to the body.
Chimpo blocks a head kick by Kerns.

Chimpo lands with a nice body punch.
A head kick misses from Kerns.
Kerns throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Chimpo throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Kerns counters with a left to the body.
A head kick misses from Chimpo.
Chimpo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

It looks like Johnny Chimpo has been cut.
Kerns misses with a head kick.
Chimpo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kerns's waist but Kerns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chimpo off to one side.
Jack Kerns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Chimpo.
Chimpo cracks Kerns with a right hand to the side of the head.

Kerns feints and then cracks Chimpo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Chimpo down.
Kerns wants to clinch.

Kerns pushes Chimpo up against the cage in a clinch.
Kerns keeps control of Chimpo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kerns pushes Chimpo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kerns swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Chimpo wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Chimpo blocks a body shot from Kerns.
Chimpo tries to circle away but Kerns has him pinned against the cage.
Kerns lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Kerns lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Chimpo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kerns walks away with a smile on his face. Chimpo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Chimpo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Kerns counters with a nice uppercut.

That has opened up Johnny Chimpo's cut even more.
Chimpo slips a jab from Kerns.
Kerns throws a lazy head kick
and Chimpo makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
A slow jab from Chimpo misses its intended target.
Chimpo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nice body kick from Kerns.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kerns looks to land a left hand but Chimpo moved out of range nicely.
Kerns tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chimpo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chimpo wants to slow Kerns down by chopping away at his legs.
Chimpo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kerns has time to react.

Chimpo moves out of range of the body kick.
No joy there for Chimpo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Chimpo lands a jab-cross combination.

It looks like Jack Kerns has been cut.
Chimpo just misses with a punch to the body.
Jack Kerns is winning the standup battle so far.

Chimpo thows a leg kick but Kerns checks it
and Chimpo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Chimpo is rocked!
Kerns throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Chimpo misses with a wild body shot.
Kerns misses the shot to the body.
Some wild striking there from Chimpo.
Kerns connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

The cut above Johnny Chimpo's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Some bone on bone action there as Kerns checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kerns takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Chimpo tries a head kick but it misses.
Johnny Chimpo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Chimpo misses with a few strikes there.
Chimpo misses with a wild combination.
Chimpo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kerns manages to avoid it.
Kerns misses with a looping left.
Kerns tries to clinch but Chimpo moves out of range.
Kerns scores with a kick to the body.
Chimpo is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chimpo misses with a few strikes there.
Kerns throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Chimpo's head.
Chimpo is still on wobbly legs! Can Kerns finish him?

Johnny Chimpo's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Chimpo seems to have recovered his senses.
Kerns circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Chimpo drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Kerns follows Chimpo to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
