And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paddy Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cooper gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Aquario to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cooper is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cooper looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cooper keeping moving, preventing Aquario from controlling successfully.

Cooper looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Aquario controls from within his opponent's guard.

Aquario is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cooper has his foot on Aquario's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aquario works his way back into a safe position though.

Aquario slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Cooper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aquario doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Aquario manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We're going to have a standup here because Camus De Aquario wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Cooper rushes Aquario and presses him up against the cage.

Aquario is trying to stall.

Cooper has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Aquario regains guard immediately.

Cooper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aquario. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Aquario utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cooper is fighting to break Aquario's control of his arms but Aquario is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Cooper is sitting in close to Aquario's body. Aquario has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Cooper is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Cooper is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Aquario.

Dowling blocks a jab.
Dowling shoots in for a takedown but Kill shows good takedown defense.
Dowling moves out of range of the strikes.
Kill avoids the body shot from Dowling.
Kill dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dowling throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dowling.
Dowling closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kill circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenny Dowling. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dowling fails to land the takedown.
Horrible takedown by Dowling or perhaps it was just good defense by Kill which made him look bad.
Kill misses with a looping left.

Kill lands a jab to the head.
Dowling has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kill finds it's way round the side to connect with Dowling's head.
Dowling fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kill checks it well.

Kenny Dowling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dowling drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Dowling shoots in looking for a takedown but Kill manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dowling's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kill lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Dowling walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Dowling shoots for a takedown but Kill saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dowling throws a lazy right hand but Kill sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kill with a hook.
Dowling throws a front kick aimed at Kill's knee but Kill avoids it well.
Dowling has a takedown stuffed.

Kill misses with a hook. Dowling ducked under it nicely.
Kill lunges at Dowling with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Dowling's hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Kill counters with a nice uppercut.
Kill tries a head kick but it misses.

Dowling shoots in and gets a takedown into Kill's guard.
Dowling stands and throws Kill's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dowling lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kill down.

Dowling is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kill will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Dowling can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kill is looking to escape.

Dowling fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Dowling lands a big shot there that rocks Kill but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Dowling postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Kill badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Dowling around the waist but Dowling pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Dowling is the winner by TKO! Dowling jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

In his post fight interview, Kenny Dowling started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.

This one could be over very soon! Cameron goes limp - he's gone! Manong jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Buyakawa shoots in looking for a takedown. Me tries to sprawl out of it but Buyakawa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Me manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Buakaw Buyakawa will probably get the nod.
