The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velaskuez tries to clinch
and Derka counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Derka lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like Kauko Velaskuez has been cut.
Derka keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Velaskuez's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Derka connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Velaskuez scrambles back to his feet.
Derka thumps Velaskuez with a low kick.
Velaskuez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Derka throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Velaskuez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Derka swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Velaskuez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Derka on his heels. He'll look to pass Derka's guard now, I'm sure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Derka feints and then cracks Velaskuez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Velaskuez down.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Derka cracks Velaskuez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Velaskuez shoots for a double leg takedown but Derka sprawls well. He's pushed Velaskuez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Pike looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Snow moves out of range as Pike strikes.
Pike looks to throw the jab but Snow is out of range.
Pike throws a front kick aimed at Snow's knee but Snow avoids it well.
Pike throws a poor cross that misses

and Snow counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pike won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Check out the look on Snow's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Pike told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Snow is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pike is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Pike seems a little lost for a moment, as Snow dominates the positioning.
Snow creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Snow is working to tighten his grip on Pike's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Pike has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Snow is really squeezing tight and eventually Pike passes out! Snow breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
