That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Connell comes to the cage accompanied by Ain't No Sunshine. Korbett comes into a darkened arena with his song building. 2pac - Fight Music kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Ian Connell has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ian Connell seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Korbett takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Connell connects with a body shot.
The fighters circle momentarily. Connell darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Connell scores with a jab to the jaw.
Connell connects with a body shot that sends Korbett's belly button to the back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Connell throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Korbett stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Connell feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Korbett sprawling to the canvas! Korbett rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Connell finish him?!

Derpens shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Derpens tries a head kick but it misses.
Derpens throws a sloppy head kick and Akins moves out of range easily.

Akins moves into the clinch.
Akins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Derpens avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Akins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Akins is trying to drag Derpens to the mat but Derpens just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Derpens breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Akins takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gray Elbe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rex Kurk!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurk throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kurk connects with a single shot there.
Elbe darts in trying to clinch
and Kurk cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Elbe takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Elbe tries for a takedown but Kurk sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Elbe avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Kurk slaps away a takedown attempt from Elbe, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kurk keeps the fight on the outside.
Kurk swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Elbe keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kurk lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurk misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kurk tries a low kick but Elbe avoids it.

Elbe gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Elbe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kurk doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Elbe.
Kurk trying to get back to full guard but Elbe takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Kurk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Elbe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kurk has given up his back here.

Kurk trying to control the hands but Elbe won't let him.
I really don't envy Kurk right now.

Kurk has hold of Elbe's leg, trying to break free but it's let Elbe lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Kurk is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Elbe throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
