Barriga fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Steiner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Steiner throws out a loose jab but Barriga uses good head movement to avoid it.
Steiner tries to bum rush Barriga with a series of wild strikes but Barriga uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Steiner avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd cheers as Steiner lands an impressive looking overhand right. Barriga doesn't seem phased though.

Barriga shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Steiner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Barriga stays in close to Steiner's body and controls the position.
Barriga loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Steiner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barriga controls the pace.

Barriga decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Barriga stalks Steiner and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Steiner's face. Steiner staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Brock Steiner has been cut.

Barriga lands a left and a right that send Steiner crashing to the mat, dazed. Barriga thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Barriga steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Steiner is out on his feet! Barriga sets himself and nearly takes Steiner's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Evil's waist but Evil gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomes off to one side.

Gomes feints and as Evil raises his hands in defense, Gomes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gomes in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gomes trying to control but Evil is working from the bottom.
Evil working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gomes.

Gomes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Evil has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gomes has managed to get both his arms back between Evil's legs - danger averted.
Evil looking for a sweep. Not yet Evil, not yet.
Evil seems keen to control Gomes's posture.
Gomes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Evil swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Evil wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Strash is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
