The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lovejoy misses with a head kick.

Ruas moves into range and clinches up with Lovejoy.

Lovejoy is trying to trip Ruas. He has hold of a leg but Ruas is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Lovejoy persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Ruas wants to sweep but no luck.

Lovejoy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ruas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ruas pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Lovejoy back to the cage. Ruas follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

That was a close second round but I would say that Briggs Lovejoy will probably get the nod.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ruas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lovejoy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lovejoy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Schroeder drops Kaneson with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kaneson looks back up at him and smiles so Schroeder waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
