The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolpakov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A cross from Kolpakov lands.
Nice sprawl there from Kolpakov as Shelmenko shoots in.
Marquardt Shelmenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shelmenko dives in and grabs Kolpakov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kolpakov pushes down on Shelmenko's head and hops out.
Kolpakov scores with a crisp jab that stopped Shelmenko in his tracks.
Shelmenko takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kolpakov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shelmenko manages to avoid it.
Kolpakov stuffs the takedown attempt from Shelmenko. Shelmenko gets slowly back to his feet.
