Nichols chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Newell can pounce on him.
Nichols dodges the punch combination from Newell.
Newell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Newell tries to bum rush Nichols with a series of wild strikes but Nichols uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Newell rolls with it to try and escape but Nichols cranks on the arm and Newell is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Joaquin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bojan sprawls well initially but Joaquin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bojan is refusing to be controlled, as Joaquin sits in half guard.
Joaquin is thwarting Bojan's attempts to control the position.
Bojan is not content to let Joaquin control the position.
Joaquin tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rorion Joaquin was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Joaquin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
SA stands and throws Thanasukolwit's legs to the side, diving into side control.

SA has hold of Thanasukolwit's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Thanasukolwit seems comfortable defending it but SA has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Thanasukolwit is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Thanasukolwit is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but SA couldn't care less - he's delighted!
