Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Xuang Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Shen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darius Shen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Xuang Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darius Shen!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shen misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shen scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Shen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shen swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee.

Shen tries to sprawl but Lee drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Shen wants to control but Lee is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lee is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lee stands up from half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shen pinned against the cage. Shen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Shen tries to bum rush Lee with a series of wild strikes but Lee uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Shen wants to get back to striking at distance but Lee won't allow it.

Shen lands with a straight right. Lee didn't see that one coming.

Darius Shen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shen throws an overhand right that lands on Lee's shoulder, as Lee tries to avoid the shot.
Shen throws a jab but it's blocked by Lee.
Lee shoots in looking for a takedown but Shen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lee's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shen stalks Lee and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lee's face. Lee staggers backwards, shaken.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shen has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Darius Shen has been cut.

Shen lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Shen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away.
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shen pinned against the cage. Shen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shen is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Shen circles away and we're back to standing.
Lee dives in and grabs Shen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shen pushes down on Lee's head and hops out.
Lee takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Nice takedown defense from Shen. No joy for Lee on that attempt.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Shen goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Shen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shen throws a series of punches but Lee moves out of range.
Shen looks to land a combination but Lee avoids it well.

Lee closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shen keeps working.

That was a close round but I would say that Julius Romulus will probably get the nod.
