1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robin Gillette! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turtles throws a jab but it's blocked by Gillette. A jab from Turtles finds it's way through Gillette's defenses. Turtles goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Turtles scores with a slapping inside leg kick. A combination from Turtles does no damage. Turtles lunges at Gillette with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gillette's hand. Turtles scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gillette is looking for a sweep. Gillette really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Turtles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. A lull in the action here as Turtles stalls from top position. Turtles trying to control the position but Gillette is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gillette gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Gillette moves in looking to clinch but Turtles pushes him off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Turtles gets a takedown into half guard. Turtles with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Turtles is tying to control. Gillette wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Gillette tries to get to full guard but Turtles has control of the leg. Turtles with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gillette! Turtles lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round. Gillette is bucking up trying to escape but Turtles cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Gillette tries to hold on but Turtles postures up. Gillette sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Turtles wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gillette keeps working. Gillette is trying to stand.
Gillette is breathing heavily. Turtles is taking a breather. Gillette says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Gillette wants to improve his position but Turtles is controlling well.
Turtles uses his free foot to push down on Gillette's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gillette.

Gillette is looking to get to half guard. Turtles is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gillette can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Turtles throws a series of punches but Gillette avoids them all with ease. Gillette gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Turtles. Turtles misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Turtles fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gillette. Turtles scoring well with a low kick there.
Gillette throws a series of punches but Turtles moves out of range. Gillette is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Danga de danga de dang - Turtles scores with a four punch combination! Turtles falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gillette counters with a left and a right that stings Turtles. Turtles is looking to slow Gillette down with leg kicks. Turtles with a body punch. A glancing blow. The fight moves into the clinch position. Turtles breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turtles throws a series of punches but Gillette avoids them all with ease. Gillette darts in trying to clinch and Turtles counters with a single leg into guard. Gillette didn't expect that. Turtles wants to control from the top but Gillette keeps moving. Turtles stays in close to Gillette's body and controls the position. Turtles seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gillette for as long as he can get away with. Gillette wants to stand and escape but Turtles is having none of it. Turtles wants to control from the top but Gillette keeps moving. Gillette utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Gillette moves into range and connects with a jab. Turtles lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Robin Gillette has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gillette takes a swing at Turtles's ribcage but misses. Gillette takes one on the button.
And that's the end of the fight! iLike Turtles showed his dominance in that final round. Well Turtles has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bummin tries to clinch up but Dolan circles away and keeps his distance. Bummin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dolan tries to strike from the bottom but misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bummin is working to tighten is grip on Dolan's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Dolan has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Bummin is really squeezing tight and eventually Dolan passes out! Bummin breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Steiner lands a head kick that stumbles Arroyo and the fighters go to the mat.

Will he be able to recover?!! Steiner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arroyo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Arroyo postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Steiner out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Arroyo goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

Ohko fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Simpson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Ohko cracks Simpson with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Simpson falls to his knees and Ohko doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Christ closes the distance and clinches up with Apocalypse, looking for a takedown. Christ pushes Apocalypse against the cage but Apocalypse circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Apocalypse tries to close the distance and clinch but Christ swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Christ shoots in for a takedown but Apocalypse shows good takedown defense. Christ changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Apocalypse looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Apocalypse can't do much from the bottom here. Apocalypse tries to get back to half guard but can't. Apocalypse sneaks back into half guard. Apocalypse tries to roll over but Christ keeps him under control. Christ perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Apocalypse trying to control from the bottom.

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Christ tries to get out of the position. Apocalypse trying to control but Christ is working from the bottom. Apocalypse has gone for a leg lock! Christ slips out almost immediately though and dives into Apocalypse's guard.

Christ performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Christ looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Apocalypse taking some punishment here, with Christ in his half guard. Christ is looking to take a break and control but Apocalypse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like Jasper Higgins has been cut. Higgins is breathing heavily. Higgins is squirming around, avoiding McThornbody's attempts to control the action. Higgins has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of McThornbody's lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. McThornbody stuffs the takedown attempt from Higgins. Higgins gets slowly back to his feet. McThornbody gets caught flat footed, as Higgins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. McThornbody throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. McThornbody trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Higgins stops McThornbody from standing up. McThornbody looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McThornbody managing to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Higgins passes McThornbody's right leg, so he's now in half guard. McThornbody is trying to get back to full guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Higgins connects with a nice short shot to McThornbody's temple. McThornbody is looking to get back to full guard here but Higgins has managed to pass to side control instead. McThornbody tries to improve his position but Higgins has taken his back!
