The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovacks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Neely swings for the body but Kovacks moves out of range.
A slow jab from Neely misses its intended target.
Neely ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Neely fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kovacks to the ground. Neely is now in Kovacks's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Kovacks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Neely is one step ahead there.
Neely postures up in Kovacks's guard and throws a big left but Kovacks blocks it.
Kovacks controls Neely momentarily but Neely frees himself.

Neely stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kovacks swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neely got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kovacks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Neely has managed to get both his arms back between Kovacks's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kovacks tries to pass to full mount but Neely defends it.

Neely is looking for a sweep. Kovacks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Neely makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Neely.
Kovacks stands and throws Neely's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Neely tries to bench press Kovacks off him but Kovacks keeps the position.
Neely sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kovacks tries to pass the half guard into mount. Neely knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Neely tries to roll over but Kovacks keeps him under control.
Neely wants to control but Kovacks is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Neely is looking to improve his position.
Kovacks works his way into full mount!
