We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Brown in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

He's out cold! Meyer gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullard slaps away a takedown attempt from Bloggs, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A left lands for Mullard.
Bloggs steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mullard.
Bloggs misses with a double jab.
Bloggs goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mullard shoots in looking for a takedown. Bloggs tries to sprawl out of it but Mullard keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bloggs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mullard jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Bloggs fails to land with a series of punches.

Mullard takes one on the button.
Bloggs lands a slapping body shot.
Bloggs throws a sloppy head kick and Mullard moves out of range easily.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mullard is defended easily by Bloggs.
Joe Bloggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Mullard.
Bloggs connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Bloggs, as that shot connected.

and Mullard counters with a shoot takedown. Bloggs fights it but they end up in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Mullard lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mullard wants to control from the top but Bloggs keeps moving.

Bloggs scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Mullard has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mullard there as he acknowledges the shot.
Mullard darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
A big right from Mullard misses.
Bloggs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mullard sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bloggs somewhat.

Mullard throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bloggs was covering up waiting for the punch and Mullard finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mullard forces his way into half guard.
Mullard wants to control but Bloggs is keeping him busy.

Mullard blocks the strikes from Bloggs.
Well, if Mullard is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Bloggs blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mullard.
Bloggs is trying to stand.
Mullard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bloggs with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bloggs tries to kick Mullard off but Mullard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mullard passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bloggs!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mullard lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bloggs is desperately trying to improve his position but Mullard has a good base and remains in mount.
Mullard in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The referee warns Bloggs that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Mullard is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Bloggs is in a horrible position here. Mullard smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mullard trying to control but Bloggs is having none of it.
Mullard has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bloggs's face.

Bloggs is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A big strike lands for Mullard! That's really hurt Bloggs and he's turned his back - Mullard keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Mullard jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andre Mullard!
