Masters lands a big head kick that sends Santos tumbling to the mat! Masters takes a step backwards and waves Santos back to his feet - he wants the finish!

and Santos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Santos walks into a left hand.
Santos is still on wobbly legs! Can Masters finish him?
Masters throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Santos's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Masters dives in looking to finish as Santos flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Masters's strikes! Masters is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Santos's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Santos was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Thompson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Thompson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Brooks doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Brooks closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Thompson stalks Brooks and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Brooks's face. Brooks staggers backwards, shaken.
Brooks stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Thompson.
Thompson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thompson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Brooks scores a takedown into full mount!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Brooks looking for a guillotine from mount but Thompson is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brooks working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Brooks lands a big shot there that rocks Thompson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Thompson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Brooks.
Brooks misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Brooks is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Thompson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Brooks goes for an armbar but Thompson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Thompson.

Brooks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thompson defends it easily.

Brooks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thompson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thompson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Brooks is proving hard to escape from.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Phillip Thompson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Thompson is looking to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thompson digs a good body shot into Brooks's ribs.

Brooks is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thompson.

Brooks closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brooks lands in his opponent's guard.
Brooks slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Thompson. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brooks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Brooks is looking to take a break and control but Thompson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Brooks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thompson, who protects the arm well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tyler Brooks will probably get the nod.
