The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaFlamme throws a hook to the side of Merceli's head but Merceli sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Merceli avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
LaFlamme has his takedown stuffed

and Merceli counters with a shoot takedown. LaFlamme fights it but they end up in guard.

Merceli is looking to stand up but LaFlamme won't let him.
Merceli must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Merceli stands and steps away. LaFlamme gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Vazquez shoots in looking for a takedown but Lins manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vazquez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Speed is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Speed looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Speed backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Smith's temple! It sends Smith violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Speed celebrates and the doctors try to help Smith!
