The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cari slaps away a takedown attempt from Hitman, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Cari goes for an armbar but Hitman turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hitman.

Cari has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hitman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cari.

Hitman is stalling here. Cari is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hitman seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cari has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Cari feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cari is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hitman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cari drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hitman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hitman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hitman!

Hitman is looking for a kimura but Cari is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hitman to get the leverage.

Hitman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cari has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hitman has managed to get both his arms back between Cari's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Andrew Hitman.
Well Cari has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
