Hanzo feints and as Benitez raises his hands in defense, Hanzo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hanzo wants to control from the top but Benitez keeps moving.
Hanzo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Benitez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hanzo is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Hanzo content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Benitez has locked up a guillotine! Benitez's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hanzo is holding on here and Benitez must be using up a lot of energy. Hanzo has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Benitez gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Mendes feints and then cracks Thompson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Thompson down.
Mendes looks for the body kick but Thompson saw that one coming.

Mendes throws out a leg kick but Thompson moves out of range and Mendes only half commits.
Mendes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Apolderob closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thyme to the mat! Thyme manages to get full guard.
Thyme keeping moving, preventing Apolderob from controlling successfully.
Apolderob must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Thyme wants to stand up but Apolderob is controlling him.
Apolderob working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Apolderob is in close to Thyme's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Apolderob postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Thyme on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Thyme tries to get out of the position.

Thyme stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thyme wants it to stay on the feet.

Apolderob looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thyme dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Apolderob. That did some damage!

and Thyme counters with a good low kick that Apolderob was not able to check.

and Sasake counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Sasake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sasake looks to score with a jab to the body but Steiner is just out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sasake. Steiner does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Sasake decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Steiner's guard.
Sasake wants to pass the guard but Steiner is keeping the position.
Steiner looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Sasake engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Steiner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Steiner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Steiner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sasake on the ground.
Sasake is working Steiner over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sasake postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Steiner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sasake, into his guard.

Sasake looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Sasake has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steiner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Steiner is posturing up here but Sasake has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Steiner tries to roll out but it's too tight and Steiner has to tap! Slick submission there by Sasake!
