Liaudin has Heyes pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Liaudin pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Heyes tumbling to the mat - Liaudin dives into Heyes's guard.
Liaudin throws and elbow that misses. Heyes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Liaudin's guard. Nice move by Heyes!

Liaudin is looking for a triangle but Heyes pushes his legs off easily.

Liaudin is looking to sinch up a triangle. Heyes throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Liaudin's body to avoid the submission. Liaudin has instead reached around Heyes's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Liaudin arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lips closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Holden did well to prevent Lips getting side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lips tries to free his leg and advance position but Holden is retaining full guard.
Holden utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lips wants to control from the top but Holden keeps moving.
Holden pulls Lips in close to his closed guard and prevents Lips from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Thunder Lips just wasn't active enough.
Holden misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Lips counters with a nice double leg into side control. Holden won't be happy with that.

Lips is working to tighten is grip on Holden's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Holden has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Lips is really squeezing tight and eventually Holden passes out! Lips breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
