The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by James. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of James.
James throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.

James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
James scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gracie doesn't seem bothered though.

James changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gracie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

James connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gracie some visible discomfort.

James wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gracie, who protects the arm well.

James is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gracie has escaped the position, nice work there.
James advances to mount.
James breaks from Gracie's wrist control and lands an elbow.
James can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James is working for a guillotine from mount but Gracie frees his head quite easily.
James wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely.

James moves to take his opponent's back.

James lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

James is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gracie is defending well though. James let's go of the attempt for now.
Devon James has got the better of the ground game so far.
James has good solid back control here.

James is cranking Gracie's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Gracie! He's tightened the choke and Gracie is tapping out!

Braddock lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Braddock, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
