The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
JC closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Na Area throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

JC moves into range and clinches up with Na Area.
Na Area is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Na Area tries to circle away but JC has him pinned against the cage.
Na Area is trying to break the clinch but JC is controlling him.

Na Area manages to break the clinch.
JC slips under a jab.

JC shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than JC was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

maia wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Anderson, who protects the arm well.
Anderson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
maia wants to control but Anderson is keeping him busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Anderson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Anderson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, maia asserts his dominance and retains side control.
