mars had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cartmen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. mars Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cartmen's back instead.

Cartmen is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if mars gets his way!

Bowman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maldi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bowman is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.

Maldi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bowman manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Maldi is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bowman has escaped the position, nice work there.

Maldi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Maldi tries to advance position but instead Bowman slips a leg back in to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bowman is trying to stand back up but Maldi is controlling him

Maldi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bowman is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bowman has escaped and now he's on top!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Maldi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bowman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bowman is keen to just control but Maldi is a slippery customer.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Malvin Maldi.
I think Maldi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
