Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kesse Nesse! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Franklin! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franklin shoots in looking for a takedown. Nesse tries to sprawl out of it but Franklin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nesse manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Nesse looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Franklin stuns Nesse with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Franklin misses with a takedown attempt - Nesse sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Franklin forces Nesse back against the cage and clinches. Franklin scores with a hook to the body. Nesse is working for takedown but Franklin is calmly controlling the position for now. Franklin wants a takedown but no success here.
Kesse Nesse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Franklin. Franklin wants a takedown but no success here.
Franklin is trying to trip Nesse. He has hold of a leg but Nesse is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Franklin persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Franklin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Franklin gets to his feet - Nesse follows without any prompting.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franklin has taken the fight to the clinch.
Franklin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nesse just stands there and leans against the cage. Franklin just leaning against Nesse, taking a breather. Nesse wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Franklin fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Franklin pulls Nesse into guard.
Franklin wants to hit a switch here but Nesse passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Franklin there! Franklin is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Nesse tries to control but Franklin wriggling away. Franklin is trying to stand. Franklin is looking to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nesse trying to control but he's not successful this time. Franklin is in all sorts of trouble here.
Franklin bucks up and throws Nesse to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Franklin throws a sloppy head kick and Nesse moves out of range easily. Franklin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nesse as he avoids it easily. Nesse misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Franklin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nesse counters with a nice double leg into side control. Franklin won't be happy with that. Franklin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nesse has just dragged him back down to the mat. Franklin regains half guard. Nesse thows a huge punch but Franklin dodges it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Franklin keeping control of the position. Franklin wants to improve his position but Nesse is controlling well.
Franklin wants to control but Nesse is keeping busy.
Franklin landing small, sideways elbows. Franklin moves into full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Franklin pushes Nesse off and gets back to his feet.
Nesse tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Excellent takedown into side control there by Franklin. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Franklin advances nicely into full mount. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Franklin is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Nesse is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Nesse flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Franklin anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Nesse and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Franklin slips an arm under Nesse chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Franklin has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Franklin is squeezing on Nesse like an anaconda would it's prey. Nesse fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Liu tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nishiura swivels and escapes. Liu moves forwards but Nishiura connects with a nice, crisp jab. Nishiura stuffs the takedown attempt from Liu. Liu gets slowly back to his feet. Nishiura lands a head kick!
No luck for Liu with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benjamin Liu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nishiura moves into the clinch successfully.
Liu jumps guard but Nishiura stands there with Liu around his waist. Liu gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Liu is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Nishiura breaks the clinch.
Nishiura lands a glancing blow to the side of Liu's head. Liu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nishiura tries to avoid it but Liu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nishiura to the ground. Nishiura escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nice takedown defense from Nishiura. No joy for Liu on that attempt. Nishiura throws a quick inside leg kick. Nishiura throws a nice outside leg kick. Liu is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Nishiura instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nishiura breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nishiura throws a nice inside leg kick. Liu wants to clinch but Nishiura slips to the side and Nishiura counters with a huge head kick that drops Liu! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Oyama, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A head kick misses from Oyama. Oyama's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Oyama duly obliges. Sutiaa blocks a head kick by Oyama.
Oyama throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Oyama throws a series of punches but Sutiaa avoids them all with ease. Oyama dips to his left and cracks Sutiaa with an uppercut! A nice inside leg kick there by Oyama. That's going to slow Sutiaa down. A combination from Oyama does no damage. Oyama throws a head kick that misses. Sutiaa blocks a head kick by Oyama.
Oyama misses with a two punch combination.
Oyama swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sutiaa misses with an uppercut
and Oyama counters with a thumping low kick.

Oyama scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Oyama is breathing heavily. Oyama fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Oyama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Sutiaa looks to clinch and Oyama counters with a series of strikes. Sutiaa will be more careful next time no doubt. Sutiaa takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Sutiaa shoots for a double leg takedown but Oyama sprawls well. He's pushed Sutiaa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Oyama misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sutiaa throws a lazy uppercut
and Oyama counters with a head kick. Sutiaa doesn't manage to clinch there - Oyama circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sutiaa moves in looking to clinch but Oyama pushes him off. Oyama throws a half hearted mid kick. Oyama blocks a head kick by Sutiaa.
A punch combination from Oyama misses. Oyama throws a sloppy head kick and Sutiaa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Oyama's guard now. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sutiaa drops back looking for a leg! Oyama is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oyama manages to kick Sutiaa off! Sutiaa jumps back into Oyama's guard. Oyama kicks Sutiaa off and gets to his feet. Oyama lands a brutal head kick. Sutiaa looks out on his feet and Oyama throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tikkanen dodges the punch combination from Power.
Tikkanen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Tikkanen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Power is keeping the position for now. Tikkanen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Power will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tikkanen passes Power's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Tikkanen performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Tikkanen wants to pass the guard but Power is defending well.

Power knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tikkanen on the ground. Tikkanen wants to control but Power is keeping him busy. Tikkanen keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Esa Tikkanen just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Power moves into range and connects with a jab. A combination from Power does no damage. Power ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Power drops Tikkanen with a straight right hand, right on the button! Power follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Leffler manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Leffler looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Santana stands up over Leffler, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Santana tries to free his leg and advance position but Leffler is retaining full guard. Leffler throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Leffler is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Santana is defending well though. Leffler let's go of the attempt for now. That's three minutes gone in the round. Leffler working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Santana defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard. Leffler lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Santana! Leffler looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Santana regains half guard. Santana tries to get to full guard but Leffler has control of the leg. Leffler uses his free foot to push down on Santana's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Santana. Leffler is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Santana is surviving well by controlling Leffler's body position as best he can. Leffler connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Leffler is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Leffler!

Kenichi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kang swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kang rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kenichi moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kang cracks Kenichi with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Kenichi tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Kang pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Kenichi is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Fuchs prevents Trine from improving his position. Fuchs works his foot free and advances to mount. Trine is breathing heavily. Fuchs with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Farnsworth throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Kent tries to bum rush Farnsworth with a series of wild strikes but Farnsworth uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Farnsworth avoids the head kick by Kent.

Kent gets in close and instigates a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Farnsworth fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
