Event Preview: Asc 3mil tourney round 3

And its time for the 3rd round of the Ascension 3 million dollar light heavyweight tournament. With 4 of the very best light heavyweights in game headlining this card, this is a card you most certainly dont want to miss. Without further ado, lets get to the fights.

Opening Main Card Fight

McThornbody vs Batts

This fight is essntially dead even in almost every significant category, with the biggest difference being McThornbody's penchant to be finished in every fight he has lost, 4 TKO losses and 2 submission losses. Batts on the other hand has only been finished once in his career. McThornbody enters the cage with elite boxing, sensational muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Batts with his sensational boxing, elite muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt as well. Both fighters have big time power in their fists with 31 combined TKO victories. In a close fight like this, who ever has the better chin may just walk away the winner. I am going with Batts in this one by TKO.

Featured Main Card bout

Eisenberg vs Manoel

We head up a couple of weight classes here as we take a break from the 205 tournament to go to our openweight division with two of the biggest boxing stylists on the planet in Eisenberg and Manoel, who have a TKO rate of over 85% for both of them. Eisenberg has never lost in his young career and Manoel will certainly be looking to use his fists to be the first. Eisenberg enters the cage with exceptional boxing, mediocre muay thai, remarkable wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Manoel, with his sensational boxing, superb muay thai, remarkable wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Manoel has been a mainstay in the openweight division for a while now, even briefly claiming the belt. This fight is going to come down who lands the big shot first and i personally think it will be Manoel.

Co Main Event

al Din vs Rei

We head back to 205 for another of our 3rd round bouts between the reigning Syn heavyweight millionaire tournament champion in Budo Rei, taking on the somewhat infamous and former Ascension 205 champion Taj al Din. Both these fighters have had storied careers thus far and both are looking to add another feather in their cap with the Ascension 3 mill crown. al Din enters the cage with elite boxing and muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. And opposing him is Budo Rei with his sensational boxing and muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Nobody counts Budo Rei out in anything after pullng off arguably 2 of the greatest upsets in the Syn tournament and having one of the best fights of the first 6 months of the year in the final against War Machine. I am going with my gut on this win and picking Budo Rei to advance in this one.

Main Event

Benoit vs Perry

For our main event tonight we have 2 top of the food chain, arguably best in the world in their own right, grapplers who are so used to having their way on the ground, it will be interesting to see how they react to fighting someone who can almost match them move for move. The biggest difference in the fight is that while Perry has a black belt, it seems to be a paper tiger has he has never submitted an opponent, on the other hand, Benoit has used his black belt to submit 10 opponents in his career. Anyway, lets get to the stats, Benoit enters the cage with sensational boxing, remarkable muay thai, elite wrestling and a bjj black belt. Opposing him is Perry, with sensational boxing, exceptional muay thai, elite wrestling and a bjj black belt. This is very much a class in different grappling styles as Benoit is the more well rounded grappler (ala Jim Miller) who is comfortable being in top or bottom position on the ground. On the other hand, Perry very much prefers top position where he can bash his opponents face in with almost reckless abandon. Benoit's chin could fail him in this fight as it has been cracked 3 times in his career and Perry has 10 of this 15 career wins by TKO. This is going to be a very close fight but my gut is telling me that Benoit is going to find a way to grind out a decision win in this one.

There you have it folks! Round 3 of the Ascension 3 million dollar tournament this is Alexi Zaitev signing off! Good bye!
