Good evening sports fans!

Welcome to the 8th issue of the dirty box! Today we preview a stacked card brought to us by the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts, the oldest and most prestigious promotion in the world today. And what a card we have, a super heavyweight title fight in the main event slot, and a bitter battle of rivals in the co-main event with history and tension.

Let’s not waste any more time, it’s time to fight!

UNDER CARD

#1 - Orkan "Kirkpinar" Dogu (176324) vs Stanley "Hammer Time" Burrell (103086) - 170 lbs

Prediction: Kicking off the card we have a wrestler verses a boxer. Dogu has the fight covered on the ground, and Burrell is the king standing, an interesting challenge for both fighters. Both warriors are coming off defeats, though Burrell has the experience and a slightly more attractive record. Dogu on the other hand, has a steel chin and a massive 23 knockouts to his name. Orkan Dogu via round three knock out.

#2 - "El Desperado" Escobar De Vega (179893) vs Doomsday Drost (131933) - 265+ lbs

Prediction: De Vega is on a good run with two solid victories behind him, he runs into trouble here though as Drost has him dusted on the skill sheet. Not only that, but Drost has 13 cm on him AND 35+ pounds, look for him to use these advantages in his game plan. Doomsday Drost will take the win, by TKO in devastating fashion.

#3 - Justin Hunter (226568) vs Puukko Bulevardi (212313) - 155 lbs

Prediction: If we are talking in terms of skill, Puukko is coming into this fight with an advantage in every category. On paper, he has this fight crushed. Coming off an impressive win, and a world class boxer and wrestler. Bulevardi by first round decapitation.

#4 - John "Bodies in the Barrel" Bunting (163641) vs Duke "Doomsday" Nukem (217544) - 265+ lbs

Prediction: "It’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum...and I’m all outta gum." The vicious American upstart, Duke Nukem! On the other side of the cage the veteran Bunting will be looking to keep it standing and trade in the pocket, aiming to add Nukem to his impressive list of 26 TKO finishes. Duke however, he can win both standing and grappling, with six submissions on his resume (33.3%). Clearly his game plan will be to get to the floor and end the contest, Bunting has lost by submission only once in his fifty plus fights, so this will be no easy task. I predict Bunting will defend too well, but Nukem will still get the win via TKO late in the second.

#5 - Jack Burton (220604) vs Russian "The Undead" Zombie (224142) - 145 lbs

This fight is for five, five minute rounds in the GAMMA Featherweight division.

Prediction: I love these rematches, two men square off toe to toe, they draw and tie the contest, then return more angry and motivated to shut down the critics. I watched the first fight and I have to say, Zombie needs to up his game. I had Burton winning this contest comfortably, the score card clearly shows Burton landed more strikes standing, in the clinch and on the ground. Zombie got very lucky and the judges were clearly too busy checking out the ring girls. Zombie did defend the takedown quite well despite being successfully taken down a few times and escaped well, but he was nowhere near aggressive enough - expect him to explode out of the corner this time round. I have Burton taking this contest, he out fought his opponent last time, and he will do it again. Burton by late submission.

MAIN CARD

#1 - "The Gilead Gunslinger" Will Dearborn (174400) (RED) vs Agent 47 "Hitman" (224041) - (BLUE) - 170 lbs

Red Corner: A world class boxer with a professional record of 26-11-0, from the United States of America, and is riding the hype on a two fight streak. He has some dangerous stand up skills, holding 16 TKO finishes to his name, and ten decisions. He has a pretty decent chin and can recover from a rock, and is masterful in the clinch, winning his last two fights in that exact manner. I expect much of the same in this fight, Dearborn will Clinch and look for the decision win.

Blue Corner: The Aussie Hitman, fighting out of Las Vegas, he is 27 and has 16 wins, with 7 losses. This guy is dangerous everywhere, having six submission wins, seven decisions and three by TKO. His camp is riding high after his last outing, where he proved the doubters wrong getting a revenge defeat over Stanley Burrell in their rematch, by TKO.

Preview: Agent 47 is not overly predictable, changing his game plan to target his opponent’s weaknesses, so I’d expect him to go for the submission if he can’t knock him out. Dearborn has lost twice by submission before, though he seems to have worked hard on his ground defence and control. Height, weight etc are pretty even so no surprises there. Standing and trading I think Dearborn will be slightly too good, with that many knock outs he has some major power. Dearborn by TKO.

#2 - "Rip" Rufus McTearson (186694) vs Michael "No Damn" Halo (91091) - 170 lbs

Red Corner: A former GAMMA Welterweight Champion, looking to turn his fate around and make another rush at the gold. Coming off a decision loss at GAMMA #543, he needs the win to kick start his campaign and momentum. At 34, and a record of 30-14-2, he is an accurate striking machine – and can prove it with 15 wins by T(KO) and another 15 by decision. Take note of his 14 losses, he has never been KO’d, steel chin, but he has been submitted 3 times.

Blue Corner: No Damn! Fighting out of Las Vegas, the Pilipino is also a masterful striker with a wealth of experience gained from over 50 fights. Out of his 18 losses he has been finished by TKO 8 times, submitted 3 times and pumbled to a decision loss 7 times. That is a lot of punishment for a 42 year old. On top of that he is coming off an amazing highlight reel KO punch loss in the first round, it was brutal. At his age we have to question his chin going into this fight.

Preview: These two kings are stand up warriors. They like to draw blood and pound their opponents face into a messy pulp, this could have fight of the night written on it as I believe both of these combatants will come out swinging hard. As far as skill they are very close, with Rip having a slight height advantage of 4cm. I think Halo is on the decline, and his chin is dropping. Rufus McTearson by vicious KO in the first.

#3 - Galloway Sackett (216095) vs "Grease" Jorde Runkputte (207340) - 170 lbs

Red Corner: Fighting out of Las Vegas, sitting ripe at 30, the home grown patriotic mixed martial artist is running hot following an early KO win at GAMMA #544; bringing his total to very respectable 14-5-0. A former GAMMA Contenders Champion, he has yet to live up to his hype in GAMMA amassing an average 2-2 record so far, but his camp seem confident he has turned things around. It is almost a guarantee that he will stand and bang, and he has the chin to do it, known for recovering from being rocked on more than a few occasions.

Blue Corner: Fighting fit at 31, hailing from Sweden, and is on an impressive heat streak bringing up 3 wins in a row, bringing the sum to 23-10-1. His chin is a concern, having been brutally knocked out eight times in his career, and it is confusing why he hasn’t dropped back down to lightweight where he was undefeated for the first eight fights of his career. Never the less he is on an impressive run, but may have run into trouble for this contest.

Preview: Sackett is hungry for a win here, both fighters are fairly even in physicals, standing up they are pretty square, though Runkputte definitely has the edge in submissions. Sackett has lost five times in his career, two of those were by submission. Luckily for Jorge he has a black belt in BJJ, though only won submission victory in his career. A submission could happen if Runkputte takes it down and gets in the right spot, otherwise Sackett tests the chin theory and takes it by TKO.

Co-MAIN EVENT - Fernando Prado (181926) vs "The Hellraiser" Henrik Torhammer (177775) - 145 lbs

This fight, is for five, five minutes rounds, at an agreed weight of 145 pounds. The title, is not on line.

Red Corner: The featherweight champion, here for redemption. Reining from Brazil, 34, he has an impressive profession record of 21-2-0. One of those losses was by split decision too his opponent on this card, there is rivalry behind this bout folks. Prado is a skilled champion in every area and is under management of Whymer Van Mastodon.

Blue Corner: A Fin fighting legend. Fighting out of Helsinki, he is 35 years old, has 35 wins and 15 losses. Formerly ranked the number 2 pound for pound fighter in the world, he has held several titles, and is here for the check, and to prove the naysayers wrong. This isn’t the Hellraisers first time in a GAMMA cage, making his debut back at GAMMA #439 in 2014 where he lost by KO to Russ Rutger. He has more to prove than it seemed. Under management of Janne Finland, who is one of the best managers in the game, you’ll know he’ll be ready

Preview: Torhammer is definitely the fan favourite and they will be out in droves to support him. The Finland flags will outweigh the Brazilian, but there is a lot of heat on this fight. These two met once before outside of GAMMA where Torhammer picked up a criticized split decision win. The press on this fight has been huge, and it is highly anticipated as being the best fight on this card given the history. These guys are so even it will come down to game plan, and Henrik’s chin. He has 15 defeats, and 10 of those where by T(KO) finish. The GAMMA Champ is hungry for redemption, I think he wants this more and will KO Torhammer in the first round.
