I am proud to announce that Robin Yount (257101) has been inducted to our GAMMA Hall of Fame. Robin has been retired from the organization and the game since January 2019, so this is a late induction.
He was managed by long time GAMMA great Dom Jaehnke (20196), who has been retired from the game some time himself. This induction is Dom's 3rd in GAMMA, taking him to 8th in the all time manager list.
Robin had a total of 48 fights in GAMMA. His record was 27-20-1. He also had 13 fights in our Contenders and Rookie organization, which means he is one of the few fighters to go all the way from our 3rd tier to the top tier. He is the only fighter (as far as i remember), to win titles in all 3 tier's of GAMMA. He actually regained the Contenders title after being promoted, then demoted.
His 191 total points gained, ranks him 23rd in the all time listings among the greatest of all time. If you count the fights in the lower tier orgs, he had ov cont...

Enroute to capturing an Olympic Gold Medal Kilo Maluga (40-7-0, 40 Knockouts) orchestrated a sequence of violence that you only witness once in a life time. He added 3 bodies to his resume in spectacular fashion, and the 3 fighters he buried weren't just your average Heavyweights, they were knockout artist with career changing power:
Jim Bob McDonald won 34 of 35 (94.74%) fights by way of knockout.
LaTroy Johnson won 22 of 23 (95.65%) fights by way of knockout.
Viktor Babinski won all 20 of 20 (100%) fights by way of knockout.
Their power proved no match for the Kiribati Destroyer. One by one his opponents paid the blood tribute, and one by one he knocked them out cold. Back to back to back. Just like the train ran on Bjor cont... |

Aljamain Sterling defeats DJ Perez via Submission (Guillotine)
Right off the gate we saw Sterling shooting for takedowns but Perez showed incredible defense. Sterling finally dragged the fight to the ground after being tackled against the cage by Perez. For nearly two minutes they battled it out on the ground where Perez was doing a nice job of controlling from the top and avoiding being caught in a submission. Just a few seconds left in the round and Sterling grabbed a hold of Perez's neck for a guillotine, it looked like a futile attempt until he successfully transitioned to full guard where he was able to complete the submission and put his opponent to sleep.
Hemmo Partanen defeats Schwang Gretzky via KO (Punch)

The phrase "freak show fight" was here since the early days of MMA, these were very common when MMA first started due to the fact that promotions back then held little to no control over the weight or ability of a fighter causing unbalanced fights against guys with a three time weight difference. There are many inistances of fighters becoming famous due to their unique stature such as, Bob Sapp, Hong Man Choi, and Konstantin The Russian Giant who we are about to interview, before we get in to the interview, lets talk about the early life of Konstantin. Konstantin Purin born on January 15th 1996, was often excluded from actvities when he was younger due to his massive stature. When he was 18, he legally changed his surname to "The Russian Giant". He was working as a book writer for a while but a few days after his birthday he decided to get a professional MMA licenese and after losing his debut against Nikki Rickie (now 2-1), he was on a 5 fight win streak and even fought for the Hon cont... |

Hey Sucker Punch crew! I’m back from the long weekend away for “guy’s weekend” as we toured breweries, threw axes, played poker, disc golf, etc. and generally just had a good time. But hey, now it’s time to get back to work and the work at hand is preparing for SPPS 136 at the Tokyo Dome this evening!
And what a friggin’ event we have lined up! TWO title fights, much like SPPS 135, and again like that event our first title fight of the evening won’t even be the Co-Main Event due to the hype of one of the fights that doesn’t have a belt on the line! Wow. Seriously, wow! Fight fans will NOT be disappointed with the action tonight as just about every fight on the card is worth of the Main Card portion of any other event!
I’m not going to yammer on here with boring details when I could spend the time bette cont... |
