We've been hearing good reports from Angelo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black jabs Hale to the body, keeping him at a distance.
The fighters circle momentarily. Black darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hale shoots in for a double leg but Black sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hale has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Hale throws a jab when Black was well out of range.
Hale takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Black throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hale stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Black connects with a body shot that sends Hale's belly button to the back.
Black is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Black throws a combination. Hale tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Hale lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Black is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hale's half guard.

Black lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Black looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hale!

Hale is pushing Black's head away, looking to escape. Black manages to hold on to the position though.

Matt Black is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Black's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
