Event Preview: HMMA 40 Saunders v Jarkko
HEROIC
2012-11-10, London, Camden Conference Centre
Author:

Hello everyone its “Sunshine” Weston Markson here once again with Rudy “The Box” Knife, some of you may know him better as Rudy “The Moron” Moron….anyway we bring to you HMMA 40, and 41 previews.

Its going to be a great weekend we have title fight, #1 contender fights, we have young fighters looking to make a name for themselves in HMMA,  what I like best is that this weekend whatever you want we have it when it comes to fighting.

Rudy: That’s right douche bag HMMA is having TWO events this weekend Saturday and Sunday, First HMMA invades the Camden Conference Center, and then on Sunday HMMA takes over Hard Knocks.  London is lucky to have two great HMMA events this weekend, lets take a look at HMMA 40 first.

MAIN EVENT

HMMA 40 Naru "Käsi" Jarkko (16-6) v  "the Name is..." John Saunders     155 lbs title

Weston:  The main event of the weekend brings to us HMMA’s double champ defending his lightweight title against a new comer to the division Naru Jarkko.  Saunders comes into this fight undefeated,   never having lost a fight and holding two titles gives Saunders a huge confidence advantage, he believes he is the best in the world and maybe he is. Jarkko comes to HMMA and into this fight with Saunders on a 5 fight win streak,  and having won 9 out of his last 10.  This could prove to be Saunders toughest test yet do to the style matchup here.

Rudy:  Yes Weston I agree Saunders has not faced someone who is this great on the ground yet, he does have experience against great wrestlers, but Jarkko is more then a great wrestler he is also a great grappler, his ability to put together wrestling, BJJ, and GNP could give him a huge advantage on the ground one that could put the title around his waist.   One the other hand Saunders is well rounded but he is a monster when it comes to striking, he has left a horde of bodies on the face down with his skills and power no one should want to stand and bang with him.

Prediction:  No matter who Saunders has faced he has won or draw I cant pick against him until he losses.

HMMA 41 Jack "Attack" Machin (11-6)  v  Daniel “The warrior” Krigare (16-7)

Weston:  Since joining HMMA Jack Machin has put the rest of the lightweight division on notice by bringing home two armbar wins to add to his trophy case of shattered limbs.  Sunday he attempts to add another and make claim for one of the very top spots in the division.  When he steps into the cage his opponent will be HMMA newcomer Daniel Krigare.  Krigare makes his HMMA entrance after having just snapped his 5 fight win streak, now he looks to make Machin the start of his next run.

Rudy:  Both of these men have well rounded skills, but its no question Machin would rather get this fight to the ground and work for submissions having picked up all 11 of his wins from there, and despite being good on the ground I doubt Krigare will want to risk getting submitted by Machin, I expect him to work his standup and avoid takedowns.  This fight is going to be awesome I believe both guys will give everything they have and we could see all aspects of MMA here.

Prediction:  I have a feeling Machin wins this fight by a very close split decision.

CO-MAIN EVENT

HMMA 40 Billy Danze (11-2)  v  3rd Smith Hammer (10-4)

Weston:  The CO-Main event brings to us two outstanding Heavyweight fighters, once the outcome of this fight is decided there will be a NEW #1 contender for French Toast’s title.   Hammer comes into the fight after his most recent win against another top 10 talent, this win shot him into the #3 spot in the division.  Danze although technically unranked would be ranked in the top 5 if he would have been in HMMA at the time of the last rankings.   He does ride a 4 fight win streak and comes in with a lot of hype behind him.  Its time to see if he can live up to the hype and shoot himself into  the upper echelon of HMMA’s HW division.   Hammer being anyone’s first fight in HMMA is a tough fight for anyone I cant wait to see how this one goes down.

Rudy:  This is going to be an awesome fight between and these two guys are looking for a chance to get glory, become heroic and take home the championship.  These two fighters are almost mirror images of each other skill wise, they also have both finished the fights by every method.  I myself am a huge fan of a method of fighting that I never developed, being grappling and GNP.   This fight is sure to end up on the ground im excited to see a great grappling display between two of HMMA’s best Heavyweights.

Prediction:   This is one of those fights that could go anyway.  Im gonna take Billy Danze by decision.

HMMA 41:  4th Dick "The Zombie" Niaz (8-2)   v  Chris Hansen (11-6)

Weston:  When to men of this size enter the cage you can expect anything to happen,  and during Sunday night’s CO-MAIN Event that’s exactly what im going to expect, Im just going to sit back and watch this heavyweight tassel between two guys looking to get in the title picture.  Last time we saw Niaz he was on the losing end of a number one contenders fight against the man who went on to win the championship.  I imagine that eats at him just a little knowing it could have been him that went on to win.  Now he looks to get back on track against Chris Hansen, Hansen is an HMMA veteran who has experienced ups and downs but in doing so has faced only top flight competition.  He may be one of the toughest the HMMA heavyweight division has to offer, and Sunday night Dick Niaz had better bring his best game or Hansen will walk away with the win.

Rudy:  This is a fight in which you have no clue whats going to transpire.  Both guys are solid in standing and grappling, both guys could win the fight in anyway.  Hansen has outstanding GNP and has a great toughness to him he can take punishment.  Niaz is a amazing striker and has a very solid ground game, he does have a small advantage standing and despite being good on the ground I think he will try to keep the fight standing.  While I believe Hansen will do his best to get on top of his Niaz and beat his face in.

Prediction:  I think Hansen gets beat for two rounds, and in the 3rd comes out gets a takedown and finishes the fight with some GNP.

MAIN CARD

HMMA 40 Klaus Andersen (10-2)  v  Glenn "Destroyer" Stroud (7-3)

Weston:  The next fight on the card is a welterweight fight between Klaus Andersen, and Glenn Stroud.  Andersen making his second HMMA appearance on a 4 fight win streak looks to grab another win and make the streak 5, he is one of the best welterweights in the world but the man he is facing is a rising star in the division.  Glenn Stroud has up to recently been a bit of a journey man as some would say, but after reeling in 3 straight wins and having not lost since may Stroud is quickly becoming a name recognized as being in the upper echelon of the division. He is no stranger to big fights against great opponents his only loss since early in his career was to a guy who came so close to beating HoFer John Saunders .  Can he take the step forward and prove he is one of the top dogs at 170lbs?

Rudy:  This is going to be a very interesting fight, we have one of the divisions top fighters, and a guy who has looked very good lately winning 6 out of his last 7.  Stroud is a well-rounded fighter but its interesting to note most of his wins have come by GNP (t)KO.  Stroud is fighting a guy with a great ground game who is also known for his GNP Andersen has left a wake of people battered and beaten with his brutal GNP, the better striker of the two fighters is Glenn Stroud and it will be interesting to see if he decides to use that advantage or if he allows the fight to the ground if that occurs the fight is very interesting as I think whoever makes the first mistake would lose.

Prediction:  Stroud winning some would consider an upset, I think its going to be a close hard fought fight.  Ill take Andersen to win late.

HMMA 41 Retsu Kaioh (15-9)  v  Jurij Vitalenko (14-10)

Weston:  When these two heavyweights made their HMMA debuts both men were left with a sour taste in their mouth when both faced defeat.  After words Vitalenko vowed to not let it happen again,  he followed that fight up with a win, now Kaioh gets the chance to get the bitter taste after a split decision loss In his debut out of his mouth and back to Vitalenko’s.  Will Vitalenko’s words of not losing again hold true or will Kaioh get the sweet taste of victory in the HMMA cage.

Rudy:  Sunday when these two heavyweights enter the cage many people will witness the rise of what could become a challenger down the road.  Both of these men are capable enough of making a run putting together some wins and finding themselves in the hunt to face the champ.  Both of these men tend to get to the center of the cage and throwdown, so the fans will be getting a treat here,  and both of these men have superb power, there is a very good chance the first man to land clean will have their hand raised in victory.  Its interesting to note Kaioh does have several wins by cut so he has shown the ability to go after a wounded man.

Prediction:  Going out on a limb Kaioh wins by cut 4 out of his 8 stoppages have ended this way.

Also on the HMMA 40 Main Card

Stefol Czarnecki  v  Peter Comradi

Billy Skank  v  Nate Barnes

Lee Machin  v  Krwawy Lopez

Weston:  The rest of the HMMA 40 main card is going to be awesome as well, we have an excellent HW fight between two guys who are always just a couple fights away from challenging for the championship in Czarnecki and Comradi.  Also we have Billy Skank making his LHW debut against Nate Barnes after an unsuccessful first outing himself this fight could tell us where these two belong in the division.  The main card will also host the debut of “Lethal” Lee Machin.  This welterweight fighter has been one of the best for a long time and his opponent Lopez has also proven to be one of the top dogs at welterweight.

Tommy Bukovsky  v  Black Belt
