The Heavyweight and the House Fire

Fighter profile of Cam Aspinall by Viktor Volkov

The King of the Quay is back online, bruised, unbeaten, and unbothered. Fresh off his 15th straight victory, a second-round knockout over the brave-but-battered Frenkie Chen, Cam Aspinall (15-0) is living the heavyweight dream: tea, titles, and total mayhem.

Frenkie, the former middleweight champ who bulked up to take a swing at the throne, promised speed, skill, and a shocking upset. What he got was a thunderous right hand halfway through round two and a front-row view of the Camden Conference Centre lights.

Now, less than three weeks later, the Geordie juggernaut is already back at it, training, filming, and somehow managing to survive his most dangerous opponent yet: domestic appliances.

07:00 — “Morning, Troops!” (and Mayhem)

Cam opens his latest YouTube vlog with his usual grin and a builder’s brew in hand.
“Morning, troops! Fifteen up, fifteen down, not bad for a lad who still can’t fold washing properly.”

He’s right about the washing part. The camera pans to the corner of his kitchen, where the charred remains of his washer/dryer sit in tragic silence.

“Thing went up like a Roman candle yesterday,” Cam says. “I’m mid-nap after training, smoke everywhere. The dog’s just sat there staring. Didn’t bark, didn’t move, useless. Could’ve died and he’d still be waiting for a walk.”

He laughs it off, but admits he pulled his back dragging the broken machine out to the back alley.
“Before anyone starts, no, I’m not blaming the washer if I don’t spark Titus Sim’s next month. But if I sneeze wrong, you’ll know why.”

09:30 — Training and Tape Study

With his back slightly stiff but his mood sharp, Cam heads to WillyQuay MMA to start another day of graft. Viktor Volkov, as ever, is there, stoic as a statue, stopwatch in hand.

Training’s lighter than usual, mostly technical drills and mobility, but the second half of the vlog shows Cam hunched over a laptop in the corner of the gym, rewatching old footage.

“This is Titus back in June,” he narrates. “Caught me good in round two, didn’t he? He’s slicker now, better movement, more patient. But he still drops that right hand when he throws the jab. Might have to remind him what happens when you do that.”

He rewinds, points, grins. “There it is. See? That’s the one.”

Fans in the comments later call it “fight tape ASMR” Cam’s mix of banter and brutality proving as addictive as his knockouts.

13:00 — Lunch, Laughs, and Local Stardom

Lunch means chicken, rice, and more camera time. Between bites, Cam films a segment thanking fans and sponsors for the love after the Chen fight.

“I know Frenkie was a brave lad. Takes guts to move up and take on the big boys. But this is the heavyweight division, we don’t do moral victories.”

He flashes his trademark smirk before plugging a new sportswear collab and joking that he’s only doing brand deals “to pay for another washer.”

16:00 — Byker Grove Goes Big

In a curveball twist, Cam’s next stop is a TV set. He’s landed a small cameo in the new reboot of Byker Grove, a cheeky nod to his North East roots.

“Only got two lines,” he tells the vlog, “but it’s two more than Viktor’s ever said in five years of coaching me.”

The crew seem half terrified, half starstruck. One of them asks if he’d ever do acting full-time. Cam grins: “Aye, maybe. But only if they let me punch someone between scenes.”

19:00 — Pints and Perspective

Evening rolls around, and the final clips of the vlog find Cam back at The Willington Quay Social Club, same stool, same pint of orange juice, same pub quiz domination.

The locals toast his 15-0 record, one bloke in a replica robe shouting, “Sixteen next, champ!”
Cam just chuckles. “We’ll see, mate. Titus’s a tough one. But I’ll be ready. Fire alarms tested, dog retired from security detail, back still half-working, all systems go.”

The Champ’s Closing Words

Back home, Cam ends his vlog the way he always does, honest, funny, and impossible not to root for.

“Every day’s chaos, but that’s life when you’re me. Washers catch fire, backs go, dogs do nowt, but the gloves still go on, and someone still goes down. See you all November 29th. The King’s not done yet.”

Fifteen fights. Fifteen finishes. One broken washer.
The Kingdom of Royal MMA remains firmly under Geordie rule, and the King of the Quay doesn’t plan on stepping off the throne any time soon.
