Born in Brisbane but raised in Perth, Thompson Swire happened into MMA after a suspension in the NRL. After spending some time and rolling in some classes, Swire quickly found himself being picked up by ever distracted Dane Chakrawan. Muttering to himself about "dingos" and "not seeing any kangeroos so far", Dane found himself on a brief sabbatical after failing in one of the many tournaments he signed up for. Thompson was recruited to camp Chakrawan after signing up for the Alliance World Championship with Chakrawan hoping to turn his luck around.
Since then, Thompson has had mixed results in "putting it all together". A fast learner naturally and confident, two early victories gave him a big head. Tripp Moody humbled him quickly, followed by two "learning experiences" against Helios Heikkinen and Frank Vasara (editor's note: Dane Chakrawan has begun shouting various expletives over the result of this match in particular) before managing to reel it in at the last moment along with his SMESH 2 brethren.
What's in store for the Aussie in the AWC? When we asked Dane Chakrawan, he ignored our question and turned us into a different direction. "I got one of his own to kill Tosh. It's genius, really. Like, he'll never see it coming if I can help it. I still gotta get him back for De Vries, this'll be it. This.. err... ute? The hell is a Ute? A car? Oh man, that's a terrible miss. I should've nicknamed you the Ford Falcon or something. Now THAT's a car."
Thompson answered instead, saying "More wins, and hopefully we'll secure ourselves a top spot in the end."
