Time to Fight Wright Explodes After Syn Strips Title

Fighter profile of Time To Fight Wright by Donnie Jackson

The MMA world has been buzzing ever since Syn announced last week that they had stripped their reigning 185lb champion, Time to Fight Wright, of his title and released him from his contract. Syn leadership accused Wright of “dodging fights” and “holding the belt hostage” by refusing to defend his crown unless granted a simultaneous shot at the 170lb strap.

Now, Wright and his manager Donnie Jackson have answered back — and they didn’t hold back.

Wright, visibly frustrated, says his only goal was to go out in style:

“I only wanted to make one last run, prove I could be champ-champ, and then retire. Instead, Syn tried to twist it into me ducking. Nobody could have predicted they’d be scared to put it all on the line. They’re supposed to be the gambling capital of the world — but they wouldn’t even gamble on their own champion.”

That champion is Azad “Uzbek Gut Check” Bekzod, the 170lb kingpin Wright had demanded to fight. Wright claims Syn’s refusal shows a lack of faith in Bekzod:

“He calls himself ‘Gut Check,’ but when we checked his gut, no one wanted the smoke! Looks like Syn and their 170 champ are a bunch of cowards. This could have been settled in the cage, but instead Outlaw Bleak and the Syn brass went on a smear campaign. Outlaw? More like cry baby.”

Wright then doubled down on his credentials, pointing to his most recent performance against Syn’s top contender Gord Ryan just six weeks ago:

“Outlaw called me a mid-tier fighter on a lucky run, but if that’s true, what does that say about their new 185 title fight? I already beat their guy Ryan and put him to sleep. Submission of the Night. Paper belt, paper champ.”

Indeed, Wright’s arm-triangle choke against Ryan was a highlight finish, the commentary noting: “Wright is really squeezing tight… Ryan passes out! Submission of the night!” Wright celebrated on the cage, firmly stamping himself as one of Syn’s most dominant middleweights in recent memory.

After dropping the mic and leaving the press conference, his manager Donnie Jackson picked it up and unloaded on Syn leadership.

“First of all, Time wasn’t holding a belt hostage. We were negotiating a legendary deal. We waited patiently for Syn to respond, but they didn’t. Time’s not a young fighter — he had to make a decision. He signed with another top agency to chase legacy. After that, Syn suddenly got loud, calling names and trying to rewrite the story.”

Jackson also dismissed Syn’s stripping of the belt as meaningless:

“How can you strip a fighter who’s already gone? Time is still the 185 champ in our eyes, and since Syn ducked the double-champ fight, he’s the 170 champ too by default. They lost the right to call themselves the home of the best.”

Wright himself closed with one final flourish, declaring:

“They said I got too big for my britches. Maybe so — but we also got too big for theirs. We terrorize that cage, and they couldn’t meet the demand. We just wanted them to come get this smoke, but instead they ran.”

Love him or hate him, Wright’s departure from Syn has left a crater in their 185lb division and sparked one of the fiercest public disputes in recent MMA history. Fans are now left wondering: is Syn better off without the outspoken champion, or have they just let their greatest middleweight walk away on his own terms?
