HMMA 31 Tinaway V Palhares preview

Event Preview: HMMA 31
HEROIC
2012-09-14, London, Hard Knocks - London
Author:

HELLO everyone its time again for another great night of fights, on Friday the 14th of September HMMA brings to you HMMA 31 Tinaway V Palhares, from Hard Knocks in London.  With 3000 expected to watch this great show of up and comers in the HMMA ranks.

MAIN EVENT

“Blood” Flo Tinaway (6-2) v  “Gravetinho” Ronaldo Palhares (5-0)

The main event of the evening brings us a fight between two great 170 lbs submission fighters and two fighters looking to make a name for themselves in the 170 lbs division.  With 11 submission wins between the two of them its no question what both fighters will be looking to do when they enter the cage.  Tinaway is a HMMA veteran on a two fight win streak after losing two hard fought battles, on Friday he gets the opportunity to welcome Palhares to HMMA and show him what the welterweight division is all about.   Palhares comes into HMMA on an undefeated 5 fight win streak, and is the arm lock champion of the world ending all 5 of his fights via some sort of arm submission.  Which submission artist will have the better night?

Prediction:  I think this will be a close grappling contest I imagine a decision win for either fighter.

CO MAIN EVENT

Isaac Newton (10-1)  v  Glenn "Destroyer" Stroud (5-3)

The co main event of the night brings to us the smartest man in HMMA Isaac Newton and Glenn ”Destroyer” Stroud.  Newton is a ground fighter with some solid boxing skills, while Glenn is an all around fighter he feels comfortable where ever the fight goes.  There have been all kind of rumors about Newton being in line for a possible title shot with his 5 fight win streak a win over “Destroyer” will help strengthen his case for a title shot, and a possible title eliminator fight.  While Stroud is looking to put together another nice streak and get back into contention for a possible title shot.  This fight has implications all over it for the welterweight division.  Will Newton be able to get Stroud to the ground and use his BJJ skills to get his 11th submission win? Or will Stroud be able to keep the fight where he wants and pick up a huge win?

Prediction:  Both fighters have proven they cant be counted out, I think this will be another close fight ill take Newton by decision.

Main Card

"Death Row" Mickey Arroyo (12-5)  v  Scott Lewis (5-1)

The next fight brings to us a classic battle between striker and grappler in the lightweight division.   Knockout artist Mickey Arroyo looks to build upon an august win against submission artist Scott Lewis on a hot streak of late winning 3 straight fights and looking to build upon that and get into contention.   Lewis started his career a grappling specialist but as of late has been working on his standup skills, will It be enough when he enters the cage against “Death Row” or will Arroyo add a 10th KO victory to his list?

Prediction:  Ill take Lewis by submission

Solomon Holland(2-0)  v  “Big” Mac Lombard (4-0)

The next fight is a fight between two young unbeaten middleweights Solomon Holland of Prime Martial Arts, and “Big” Mac Lombard of Rift Fighting Academy.  Holland is a little more well rounded then Lombard, but Lombard has shown some very good wrestling and GNP skills in  his first 4 fights.   If he does take the fight to the ground he will need to watch the submissions of his opponent who has won both of his fights by submission.   I had the opportunity to talk to Solomon Holland  the other day and he had a lot to say about his last fight and his current fight. Of his first experience inside the HMMA cage he said  “I'm very happy with the result. I remember getting knockdowned and before I knew it, a minute later or so, I had him in my guard and managed to pull of the submission (triangle). It wasn't until then that I realised all the blood on the cage floor and a huge cut on my cheek. All in all I was in a pretty rough position and I'm very glad I could turn it around, winning the submission of the night award a long the way.” Of his current fight against Lombard he said “Im  training at Prime Martial Arts for my upcoming fight at HMMA 31 versus 4-0 Mac Lombard. “Upcoming fight with Mac Lombard is gonna be a tough one. Lombard is on a 4 fight win streak with 2 wins coming inside HMMA. Has finished 3 of those fights. On the ground I think it's a very close fight, but I should hold the advantage in the standup. I've been training hard in every aspect of the game and I feel very confident that we will come up with a good game plan to counter Lombard. “  Also fighting on that card will be my team mate and training spartner Jon Murhphy. I want to wish him the best of luck in his upcoming fight against Mouth Wash.”  Who wins? The all around game of Holland or Lombard’s wrestling and GNP?

Prediction:  Holland wins by decision or Lombard by GNP.
