Event Preview: VFN 18: Anderson V. Knuckles
The Evil Empire

After shocking VFN 17, where we crowned new lightweight champion, it’s time for VFN 18: Anderson Vs Knuckles, where two titles will be defended – at 185 and 205.

Marcus “Killer” Woods made his presence felt, when he tapped Jaer Emilson in their rematch. First fight end up as a draw, and Marcus learned his lesson, as he didn’t leave outcome of the fight in judges’ hands. Now he will take on one the premier boxers – Erik Zarkov. For Erik it will be professional debut, so there isn’t much about him, expect of knowledge that he is able to knock you out with one punch. Marcus brings his elite muay thai to the mix, so don’t expect ground fight at all. It will hit the ground only when someone will get knocked down…or knocked OUT.

let’s go down to Featherweight division, where Jack Lane and Grigori Dragunovich Li are set to battle each other. Finally, after being knock out from tournament twice, Jack Lane find his way back, with a decision victory in his last bout. Grigori isn’t in that good situation, as he is coming off a loss in second round of 145lbs Grand Prix – but now, they are ready to go and they want to put on a show, just to send a message that they may be down right now, but they ain’t knocked out for ever.

Javier “The Dragon” Salado showed why you can’t mess with him. He possesses legit One Punch KO Power and great skill set to go along with it. But Erin Dolor doesn’t care about it – and he called Salado out. Javier accepted that challenge and now, they will fight each other. Both are great wrestlers and great boxers, so outcome of this one will depends on who wants it more, and who is hungrier for success. They may roll on the ground, they may bang it out on their feet – so expect everything from them, as they will come to the cage to settle their score.

Alexantri Karelin is coming to VF as 2-1 Heavyweight wrestler with some very serious hands. And first man in his way? Former Heavyweight Grand Prix competitor – David “12th” Drake.  Former Muay Thai fighter from Nea, United States, entered Heavyweight GP and won his first fight. After it he withdrawn from GP and he end up fighting VF’s new-comer. Alexantri doesn’t really care about what David did, or who he defeated. What he cares about is just going through him, like he did in his last fight, forcing doc to end up the bout because of his opponent’s cuts. Vicious Fight? For sure.

Sune Folkeson is on the best way to his title shot. Three straight (T)KO victories launch him straight to the top. But someone is looking to steal his momentum. Who? Former wrestler, who turned into MMA – Giorges Papadopulos. Greek is a outstanding wrestler, and he may be much more better than his opponent – but Sune will have stand up advantage for sure. When we speak about top contenders or exciting fights, we have both in this fight. Don’t expect boring stand-and-circle or lay-down-and-steal-rounds fight. Not with these two.

Kamil Korczewski is talented striker, and he knows how to punch someone, to knock him senseless. Jack Balance was on his way to become a champion, before submission loss in title fight, now he has a chance to get back to a no 1 contender status and fight for the title once again. But first this very skilled wrestler has to defeat Polish Boxing Prospect. “The Crippler” isn’t type of guy that will just lay down and let you knock him out or submit. With possibility of earning title shot with that victory, it may become one of the greatest fight in Middleweight history.

After bad beginning of his VF career, Wolfe Larsond efeated Luis Guerra and knocked out Adan Kazim Belcher. Now – biggest test thus far for him. Fred Nyholm. Undefeated 4-0 well-rounded fighter showed that he is real deal in Welterweight division and he isn’t done yet. Wolfe will have to use his striking to close the distance, but watch out for takedowns and stay as far from ground as he can. Fred will look for takedown, and taking fight to the ground as soon as possible. Being skilled fighter is one thing, but being able to impose your will on your opponent is important as well. Who will be able to do this? I don’t know and we will have to wait and see it, to check it.

Light Heavyweight submission specialist – Joe Machida – was on a roll, before shocking loss by KO to Brian Baxter. Now, he wants to get back in title contentions, and next opponent is on his way – best wrestler at 205, Mark Munoz. But in this fight his wrestling may be disadvantage for him, as Joe’s 3 wins came by way of submission. But if he will be able to take him down, and hold him there Joe will not be able to submit him. It will be great fight for fans, and perfect test for these two fighters. So, who will win it? What you guys think? For sure it will be O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G.

John Kruger become 4-0 when he forced Scott Taylor Williams to tap, and with that – he earn himself a shot at the title. Mark Forolov isn’t looking to lose it any time soon, so it will be tough fight for both of them. Both posses wrestling pedigree, but they have different game plans – as Forolov prefers to submit his opponents, and John would love to pound their brain out. With 5 rounds they have plenty of time to finish each other. We are set for 25 minutes of Middleweight action, with two guys that like to fight on the ground. So don’t expect stand up war from them.

In the main event we will see 5 rounder as well, when Alex Anderson will put his Light Heavyweight Championship on the line, against Inspectah Knuckles. When Inspectah started his journey with VF he wasn’t really optimistic about it, but he took every fight he was offered – and now he was offered a title fight, that he just couldn’t refuse. Alex was happy about that fight, so it’s win/win situation. Anderson proved that his wrestling is almost incomparable in VF, so expect fireworks – especially if we add their awesome striking skills. That fight will determine best 205er, no doubt about it. But…who will emerge victorious?
