  HFC 58 - Kocak vs Krylov 3 - Preview

Hello MMA fans, I'm Alexei Smirnov here with your preview for HFC 58. We have a great card tonight and a great looking heavyweight title fight. You will not want to miss this one. I envy the fans in Las Vegas that get to watch this one live!

Miguel "The Jukebox" Duarte vs Marcus Svensonn

My pick: Svensonn Via KO (Punch)

Svensonn is an amazing stand up fighter and it really shows. Svensonn could beat almost anyone whilst standing up and is great at throwing fists. His biggest weakness would be his ground game and Duarte would have to go to the ground in order to win this one. If Svensonn can defend the takedown he will have another win on his record. If Svensonn can round out his game a bit more he could be a huge threat in HFC.

Mitch Rapp vs Frank "The Gangster" Lucas

My pick: Rapp Via Submission (Armbar)

This was a hard fight to choose but, I think Rapp can win here. Rapp has less fights so hard to judge him but his ground game seems very solid. Lucas has a clear weakness in his ground game and Rapp could capitalize. Lucas has been on a losing streak so a win here would be nice but, I don’t see it happening. Rapp could get his first Sub win of his short career.

"El Seor Vorpal Kickasso" Billy Bob vs Kaoru Hanayama

My pick: Hanayama Via Submission (Arm Triangle)

I don’t think Bob is a bad fighter but, something he’ll need to do in the future is lift his morale up. That last loss hit his morale pretty hard and Hanayama will be able to capitalize on it. Hanayama is very scary on the ground and I see him finishing this fight anyway he wants too. Hanayama just broke a losing streak and so he’ll be wanting to build up some more momentum and a win here would help with that.

Basko "MadDawg" Godwin vs Stefan Muller

My pick: Muller Via TKO (Strikes)

I see Muller starting his HFC career off with a bang. He has shown that he has immense power and can finish opponents. Godwin is no slouch and I think it’ll be a close fight, Muller will need to stay on his toes. If Muller can make an impact here it would help his stock in HFC. Godwin would also benefit a lot from a win here. I think it’s anyone’s game in this fight, it’ll be a good one!

Sergey "Tel" Telegin vs Juju Baraka

Next up we have Sergey “Tel” Telegin (6-2-0) taking on Juju Baraka (5-2-0). Now this is an interesting one, this a fight between a grappler and a striker. Both fighters coming off a win and both having very positive records. Whoever wins this will be going in strong and could even be a contender for the championship. Telegin has 3 wins straight and all of them have been finished. Baraka won his last one in very dominant fashion. Telegin will want to take this to the ground and hopefully keep in there. Baraka will want to defend against the takedown and look for a finish. Two young guns making names for themselves let's see who I think will win.

My pick: Baraka Via KO (Punch)

I’ve had my eye on Baraka and he seems very special. He seems to have a great sense when it comes to finishes and bricks for fists. He is yet to lose via Sub and I could see him getting an early finish if Telegin leaves his chin open. Now there are ways for Telegin to win, mostly on the ground. He has a great ground game and could easily get a sub given the opportunity. Overall an interesting fight and one that could have implications on the division.

Lev Davidovitch "Rebel" Bronstein vs Raykuza Maui

Up next we have Lev Davidovitch “Rebel” Bronstein (13-6-0) taking on Raykuza Maui (5-4-0). Despite Maui’s record he is a very skilled fighter, especially when it comes to Muay Tai. Both fighters are on a bit of losing streak but, who will be able to snap it. Bronstein is very experienced in the division having fought yet lost to the current champion. Maui is yet to prove himself having lost to some great opponents. A win for Bronstein here could help him get back to the top of the division. A win for Maui would be crucial for him making a name for himself in HFC. Now let’s talk about the fight itself, Bronstein loves the ground game and will try his hardest to bring Maui there. He will be looking for the sub for sure. Maui will be looking to use his MT to finish Bronstein and will look to defend the takedown. Now who do I think will win?

My pick: Maui Via TKO (Strikes)

This would definitely be an upset but, I do really see Maui pulling this off. Maui has a lot of power and any stray punch could put Bronstein to sleep. Also he is yet to lose via Sub and I see it staying that way. Now Bronstein is a very talented fighter and I do see many ways for him to win but, having a non existent standing game isn’t looking good for him. I could see Maui going on to do great things in the division. Overall a really interesting fight to say the least!

Luis Pinto vs Wesley Taurus

Now we have Luis Pinto (7-5-0) taking on Wesley Taurus (9-5-0). One major theme I have noticed in today’s card is that most fight’s are a grappler vs a striker and this one is no different. Taurus is an obvious striker and is even a part of a KT org. Whilst Pinto is very skilled in all aspects of MMA his grappling seems to be his strong suit. Pinto is really unpredictable in this fight and he could either go to the ground or stay standing. I think the better option for Pinto would be the ground game but he could strike if he wanted to. As for Taurus the game plan is a lot more simple, throw some punches. He has a great stand up game and fists that could put anyone to sleep. Pinto would love to snap his losing streak and a win here could be very beneficial for him. A win here for Taurus would put him as a real contender in the division and could even lead to a shot at the champ down the line. Now let’s see who I picked.

My pick: Pinto Via Submission (Kimura)

This was a very hard choice to make but, I see Pinto picking up the dub. Pinto just has more ways to win here and can really do it anyway he wants and that unpredictability could give him the win. Now Taurus just needs some big punches for it to all be over but, if he goes to the ground there is little he can do against Pinto. Overall a fight I’ll be keeping my eye on.

Jewel "The Polished" Diaz vs "Dragon Fighter" David Dilbrandt

Up next we have Jewel “The Polished” Diaz (11-3-1) taking on “Dragon Fighter” David Dilbrandt(8-2-1). This will be Dilbrandt’s featherweight debut so let’s see how it goes for him. Dilbrandt is coming off a loss but, before that was gaining steady momentum and was one of the best in his division. Diaz is coming off of two straight wins in HFC and has looked very impressive as of late. Despite the division difference there is very little difference in terms of weight. This fight will have a big rippling effect in the division and whoever wins here has a strong claim for the championship. Diaz will look to take Dilbrandt to the ground and try to get a TKO finish. Diaz will have to be aware of Dilbrandt’s black belt although Dilbrandt has a better ground game than I first thought. Dilbrandt will want to keep this one standing and expose Diaz’s weak stand up game. Diaz has a very impressive win over Wrestler in his last fight but, he’ll need to approach this fight a lot differently. Dilbrandt has probably bribed the judges as of recently because his last three wins were all by decision. Overall a close looking fight, let’s see who I have picked.

My pick: Dilbrandt Via Unanimous Decision

Well let’s hope he has more money for more bribing because I actually don’t see a finish happening. I don’t see Diaz getting much done on the ground due to Dilbrandt having an underrated ground game and Dilbrandt has shown that he has struggled with the finish. The main thing Dilbrandt has excelled at is getting the decision and I see him doing that here. Dilbrandt could even receive a title shot if he manages to beat Diaz. As for Diaz he is a very skilled fighter and anything could happen.

Slash Slingin "The Max IQ CACC Wrestler" vs Ademaro "A.D.A" Dos Anjos

For our co-main event of the evening it’s Slash Slingin “The Max IQ CACC Wrestler” (15-4-0) taking on Ademaro “A.D.A” Dos Anjos (14-2-0). Now this is a fight for the ages, the two best grapplers in HFC history going at it. ADA is coming off the biggest loss of his career and the main question is, can he rebound? These two former champs are trying to make another run at the title. Slingin is coming off of a big win against Woods in his last fight and he showed that he still has it. ADA had a nine fight winning streak before this fight and has shown time and time again his skill. Now this fight will obviously go to the ground and it will be a master class of grappling both fighters trying to gain control. The major advantage ADA has over Slingin is the BJJ difference. ADA’s very impressive black belt should help him a lot in this match up. Another place ADA has the advantage is in the stand up game, Slingin will want this fight to be taken to mat pretty quickly or ADA could finish him whilst standing up. A fight for the ages and one that will have long lasting impacts in HFC.

My Pick: Dos Anjos Via Submission (Triangle)

A win here would be very good for ADA as he will need some more momentum. ADA can really win anywhere but, subs are his bread and butter. ADA is a very impressive fighter and should have no issues rebounding and potentially challenging for the belt again. As good of a grappler Slingin is, I think ADA is just the best and it will be interesting to see how it goes. Overall a matchup I am very excited for!

MAIN EVENT: Demir Kocak vs Boris Krylov

Now it’s time for the heavyweight title fight. It's Demir Kocak (12-2-0) taking on Boris Krylov (12-4-0). Speaking of rebounding from big losses, Kocak recently lost the chance to become the first ever HFC double champion. Now losing to Wanker shouldn’t make you feel too bad as he is a goddam beast but, it would have to sting a bit. Krylov on the other hand is coming off two straight wins and is probably feeling good about himself right now. Now this is my kind of fight, two big guys throwing punches. Now another thing to note is that these two have alright fought and Krylov actually beat Kocak. Now that was a while ago but, still something to keep in mind. Kocak seems to have better boxing than Krylov and Kocak seems to have a better chin. Whilst Kocak has a better chin, Krylov has better fists and he has great power in his fists. It’s hard to KO Kocak but, if anyone would I’d be Krylov. These two really are the best in the heavyweight division and let’s see I picked.

My pick: Kocak Via KO (Punch)

This was super difficult to choose a winner. Both of these fighters are amazing and deserve to be champ but, I see Kocak retaining his belt here. Kocak just has a better chin and better boxing and I think he can win here. I wouldn’t count out Krylov as he can win any fight in an instant with just one punch. Overall an amazing looking main event and one I’ll be watching out for.

Predicted Sub of the night: Ademaro Dos Anjos

Predicted KO of the night: Juju Baraka

Predicted Fight of the night: Kocak vs Krylov

Well there you have it folks another preview and what a card it is. I want to thank you all for supporting me and I’ve really enjoyed writing these previews. I hope you all enjoyed it today and I hope you all have a wonderful day. We have a great mix of fighters here at HFC and it’s always interesting to look at.
