King to G4: Checkmate Championships Rising Talent

Fighter profile of Bjorn Akerfeldt by Mattias Lundgren

Bjorn "Big Bear" Akerfeldt recently moved from the defunct Florida Fight Squad a backyard fighting group of young fighters to Checkmate Championship and dominated the fight at Hayashi's lounge in front of 2000 screaming fans with a performance that not only brought him to 2-0 but also awarded him his second award this time for Fight of the Night.

The match was over in the blink of an eye, Tarmo Rajatanka (3-2-0) connected with a jab but as he went for an overhand right, Big bear swept in with a takedown and had him tapping via Kimura in only 23 seconds, after the fight he had this to say.

Bjorn Akerfeldt: "Luckily I was able to figure out my opponents strategy pretty quickly, when I looked at his past fights I saw all he ever went for was clinch and elbow show so I knew not to let him get close and a white belt I knew he'd be unskilled on the ground so I decided to take him down and clinch an early victory. That's two submissions for me now but my next fight I think I'll show I'm not such a one trick pony I've actually spent quite a bit of time on my Boxing growing up, think it's just my manager Mattias Lundgren rubbing off on me."

Bjorn's currently awaiting his next matchup which if victorious, will assuredly land him in a top 10 spot.
