  HWP284: Kamitata vs. Ankle! PREVIEW

Howdy doody darlings, K-Rad here! Did you miss me? Shucks. It's fight time once more, not that the action ever stops with HWP, but it's time for another weekly main event and I doubt anyone is surprised to see Ankle headlining it. That guy gets around more than a Hilton sister. As you should all be used to by now, we have over 17000 fans waiting to fill out the MMA Grand in Vegas where 10 of the best fights in the country will be unleashed upon the masses. Just to mix things up we have an openweight title battle going on in just the 2nd fight of the night so make sure you get in early! I've found it humorous watching the 'controversy' following the debate about CBD 'feeding fighters' to his own stable. That's pretty funny because a quick check of most of my writeups will see me mocking CBD for pitting his crappy fighters against opposition that is far superior yet somehow the dozy bugger manages to win a few. How? Magic. Anyhow let's get on with the show!

Ray "Lightning" Quik vs. Ryan "The Fleet Commander" Evans

A mainstay of HWP ever since beginning his professional career, "Lightning" Quik is the type of fighter the fans love to watch. Win or lose there's usually blunt force brain trauma involved and that is what we're keen to see. At 183cm, "Lightning" has a well rounded skillset and despite a preference to stand and bang he is no slouch on the mat. His opponent, "The Fleet Commander" Evans has done run the circuit through the majority of top level organisations and has built a respectable reputation for much the same reasons as Quik so this fight is shaping up to be a real cracker. Expect both men to be trading until one goes down despite Evans looking to show off his submission grappling since joining HWP, where all 4 of his HWP wins have come via submission, because Quik has the better ground game and Evans more reach. This should be a very closely fought battle but I think Quik has the eye of the tiger going into this one and with a 3 fight win streak behind him he should have the momentum to claim a decision victory.

Edilson "Ariranha" Rubiera vs. "MEGAbobr" Bobrisio Herdum

There's a bit more stylistic variation between these next two fighters as the wickedly talented wrestler "Ariranha" Rubiera prepares to shape up against "Megabobr" Herdum, a highly skilled Thai boxer. Both men are quite new to the organisation but have shown some early successes which they will be keen to continue tonight. Rubiera is the slightly heavier man which may allow him to work in a bit more of a takedown angle to his game as once the fight goes to the floor there is no chance in hell for "Megabobr" to survive. Herdum may well have that in mind and be looking to use his kickboxing to counter anything sloppy and maybe unleash a little foot to face action if the opportunity arises. It should be interesting to see who can make things work to their favour, especially as Rubiera lost his last bout via headkick but I think tonight he will be too strong and should be able to snatch a ground and pound KO victory.

Rip "Bad Boy" James vs. "Dreamboy" Bob Baramari

Co-Main Event!

We're getting old school now as two highly experienced veterans get ready to go hammer and tongs in the co-main event. "Bad Boy" James is only a bee's dick shy of 70 professional bouts, a staggering legacy by anyone's standards, and coming in on a two fight win streak he is proving he still has what it takes to compete at the top level. "Dreamboy" Baramari has also been looking good in recent times and on paper he certainly has the standing advantage and a touch more wrestling. This may prove vital as "Dreamboy" has shown a preference to stand and bang whereas James has 26 of his 40 wins via submission, suggesting that Baramari probably doesn't want to be on the floor with him. To be honest though, Baramari's striking skills along with his 16cm extra height make me think he will be able to turn out James' lights.

Nikac Komitata vs. Fedor A million ankle

Main Event!

Another superb main event is coming to you courtesy of Ankle, the man who fights more often than that skitzophrenic homeless dude down on King St. Komitata is a giant of a man, 221cm tall and a well rounded skill set means he is able to use this to full advantage. Of course, when fighting Ankle, a world class kickboxer, this doesn't necessarily mean anything. Ankle is much shorter and lost his previous bout to this same opponent via a 3rd round TKO so he will be keen to avenge himself as ruthlessly as possible. Komitata has shown tenacious chin strength through his career as well as an ability to land some very heavy hands so it is going to be a great bout no matter who takes it and with Komitata going 6 in a row currently he will be feeling like he can beat anyone but I am going to buck against the trend and predict Ankle to gain retribution via knock out.

There it is boys and girls, HWP284 in all its glory. As mentioned, there is a title fight very early in the night so make sure you get in ahead of time to see how that one plays out! I am K-Rad and on behalf of HWP I wish you a super duper day and hope to see you at the fight!
