 UnderGround FC 95 Preview!
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, My name is Tony Soprano and welcome to my first official preview as the writer for Underground Fight Club and the first PPV event of the year! Tonight I'll be previewing UnderGround FC 95 coming to you live from The Beer Garden in beautiful Amsterdam that includes not 1 but 2 rematch Championship fights! With that being said let's move on to the preview!
Prelim card:
170 pound division:
Tiny T "Dinosaur" Rex (9-3) vs Marin Ivanov (8-8)
Another huge fight from the stacked 170 pound division! Ivanov is 1-7 in UnderGround FC while on a ridiculously frustrating 5 fight losing streak including 3 first round finishes. He is a wrestler that holds a blue belt in BJJ. Ivanov badly needs a win to snap this losing streak unfortunately he meets another tough matchup in Rex. Rex is 4-3 in UnderGround FC while on an unlucky 2 fight losing streak being finished in the first round of both fights. However before that he was on a 4 fight win streak including a fight of the night award so the skills to get back in the win column are there. He is a wrestler that holds a blue belt in BJJ. With both men being wrestlers it seems this fight will come down to strategy and which fighter performs better on the ground!
145 pound division:
Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagomedov (6-4) vs Kyle Kristian "The Filipino Pedophile" Galeos (11-5)
"The Eagle" is 4-3 in UnderGround FC while losing 2 of his last 3 fights including a first round KO in under a minute in his last fight. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a purple belt in BJJ. Being on a losing streak in UnderGround will only get you buried deeper down the rankings as this organization has nothing but great fighters. Khabib is included in those great fighters but he will need to focus and put together a great performance in this fight! Galeos is 5-5 in UnderGround FC however is on a 2 fight losing streak after winning 4 fights in a row including a KO of the night award for all 4 fights! Wow! That is rare and extremely impressive. Galeos is a boxer/wrestler that holds a white belt in BJJ. This fight has 2 fighters with the skill to perform who have been on unlucky streaks as of late. Both fighters have KO power and are looking for a win badly so fight fans won't want to miss this one!
135 pound division:
New Breed One (6-3) vs Curtis "Jiggy" Jackson (6-6)
New Breed changed management a few times and lost his debut in UnderGround but since then has won 2 in a row by way of first round submission. He is a boxer/wrestler and holds a dangerous black belt in BJJ. He has won all 6 of his fights by way of submission which isn't a surprise when you see that belt of black around his waist. It's not shock that his gameplan will be to go to the ground early and often. Jackson is 6-3 in UnderGround FC and is currently on a 2 fight win streak. He is a boxer/wrestler that holds a blue belt in BJJ. Jackson has his hands full in this fight and will want to do everything in his power to stay off the canvas and test the boxing skills of the BJJ Black belt New Breed. This one might end quickly and ferociously.
170 pound division:
Kane Thompson (9-6-1) vs Joey "Trap God" Simone (8-2)
Kane is 2-1-1 in UnderGround FC with one fight being a majority draw which was easily the fight of the night award at UnderGround FC 61. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a brown belt in BJJ. Kane will be looking to avenge his last fight which ended in a lopsided decision loss and get a win and make his make known in the very competitive 170 pound division. "Trap God" is not an opponent to take lightly. He is 5-1 in UnderGround FC including 2 fight of the night awards with his only loss coming by decision at UnderGround FC 56. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a brown belt in BJJ. This fight has all the makings of being full of fireworks and both fighters will want to put in a great performance!
170 pound division:
Toby "Terror" Terrorelli (7-1) vs Cross "Lemon Drop" A Zoo (12-4)
That's right folks we weren't kidding when we said tonight is full of exciting fights. "Terror" lost his debut UnderGround FC fight after going 5-0 on the amateur scene. However he has bounced back nicely with 2 straight wins one of which being a fight of the night award! He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a brown belt in BJJ. With 6 out of 7 wins coming by way of T/KO "Terror" might actually be a terror to deal with on the feet! Zoo is an impressive 8-2 in the UnderGround FC organization including 1 fight of the night award and will be looking to make his name known in the 170 pound division. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a purple belt in BJJ. These two fighters have 15 T/KO victories between them so I think this fight ends quickly!
Now onto the MAIN CARD!
155 pound division:
Ralphie "Head kick" Maldonado (9-7) vs Harvey "Horse Meat" Stallion (12-3)
Maldonado has recently changed management before signing his UnderGround FC contract and is 3-4 under the UnderGround FC organization. He is skilled in all aspects of MMA and holds a purple belt in BJJ. However he has been a bit of a cold streak losing 4 of his last 5 fights and was T/KO'd in 3 of those fights including a first round T/KO in his last fight. Maldonado has the skills and will be looking to put them together to get back in the win column. It won't be easy though because on the other side of the cage is Stallion who has won 4 of his last 5 fights in UnderGround FC and successfully defended the 155 pound Championship one time before losing it to Juraj Divisek in a 5 round battle that ended in a decision. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and is a force on the ground holding a black belt in BJJ. Stallion will be looking for his second win in a row in route to another chance to retain the 155 pound championship. An exciting way to start off a great night of fights!
185 pound division:
Luther "Limpy" Jackson (22-7) vs Walter Jackson (8-1)
It's Jackson vs Jackson....which Jackson will come out on top?! Luther Jackson recently changed management and is 2-2 in UnderGround FC while twice fighting for the 185 pound Championship but coming up short both times. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a purple belt on BJJ. With 18 of 22 wins coming by way of submission he will be looking to go to the ground early where he is almost unbeatable. Walter Jackson is 6-1 in UnderGround FC and is on an impressive 5 fight win streak while being awarded the fight of the night once. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a blue belt in BJJ. Walter will look to keep this fight standing while Luther will look to bring this fight to the ground as soon as possible. With 2 different style up against each other there's no way this won't be exciting!
Now....for your CO MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING and first of 2 Championship fights tonight!
265 pound defending Champion Henry "The African" Akinwande (8-1) vs Challenger Phil "Testosterone" Coleman (23-5)
Let's start with the challenger. Coleman has recently changed management and has been successful since the change. He is 3-1 in UnderGround FC with his only loss coming against his opponent tonight and 265 pound Champion Akinwande! He is on a 2 fight win streak with both fights being finished by T/KO. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a brown belt in BJJ. With 15 of his 23 wins coming by way of T/KO he will be coming with power to try and win his first Championship in UnderGround FC! Akinwande is 6-1 in UnderGround FC and won the Championship from Fray Tormenta by first round KO and UnderGround FC 60 and has defended it twice including a 3 round T/KO stoppage win against his opponent tonight Phil Coleman. He is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a purple belt in BJJ. With 6 of his 8 wins coming by way of T/KO this fight is sure to impress and Akinwande doesn't seem like he's ready to lose his gold just yet!
MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING and the second and final Championship fight of the evening!
265+ division:
Defending 265+ UnderGround FC Champion Colin "Knee Legend" Kapernick (11-2) vs challenger "Big Pile Of" Turd McPherson (15-9)
The first Championship fight of the night is a rematch from UnderGround FC 72 and it's no joke! It's real! McPherson is 3-1 in UnderGround FC with his only loss coming to....you guessed it....his opponent tonight 265+ pound Champion Kapernick in a rematch from UnderGround FC 72 where he lost by T/KO in the second round. Since then he has had back to back first round T/KO to gain another shot at the Championship! He is a boxer/wrestler that holds a purple belt in BJJ. Kapernick is on a 3 fight win streak since losing his Championship fight against Tohit Tohurt at UnderGround FC 40. His 3 fight win streak includes winning the Championship from Tohurt and defending it twice with both of those defenses coming in a rematch against Tohurt and his opponent tonight McPherson that he won by first round and second round T/KO. Kapernick is skilled in every aspect of MMA and holds a blue belt in BJJ. If this is anything like the first fight the rematch will be even better! Tune in to see if the Championship changes hands or in current Champion Kapernick can successfully defend for the 3rd time in a row!
