Aside from threaten with a kimura, Lievremont did little with his dominant position however.

After thirty seconds of Lievremont stalling on top, the referee stood the fighters up. Richter pushed forward with wild swinging punches that backed Lievremont up but then Lievremont scored yet another takedown, landing in guard on top. As the clock quickly became a mortal enemy of Lievremont, he went for a high risk heel hook and paid for it with his position as Hans Richter reversed into top guard! Lievremont was working a high guard but you could just about feel that everyone knew this fight was just about over and won by Richter.
