Rising From The Ashes

Fighter profile of Viktor Tsoi by Aylib 2.0

On the tail end of a back-to-back losses, with lights being shut off and the last few stragglers leaving the gym, Aylib 2.0 called Viktor Tsoi into his cigar-reeking office in the corner of a gym that has seen better days.

Aylib : "Listen man, it just seems that you have been struggling with average competition. This is business; I like you, but lets look at some numbers. You've been finished 3 times in the last 12 fights. Your record is middling 7-5. What do you want to do?"

Tsoi, his body language signaling defeat and apathy: "Fight, I guess."

Aylib silently looking at Tsoi, who avoided much eye contact, shifting from from leg to leg, clutching his gym bag.

Tsoi: "Alright, give me chance, let me fight few more and see how it goes. I know I can knock some people out, I know I can sub them. Just haven't been able to piece things together, you know?"

Aylib: "Alright, sounds fair. I just want to be upfront about it. I think you'd be better off elsewhere, with another management company, to be fair. If you lose 3rd in a row, we're parting ways. Deal?"

Tsoi: "Yeah."

Since that conversation, Tsoi went on a tear, losing twice in 27 contests, once when he was sent into the fight with injuries (http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=819443), and then another loss, which has been swiftly avenged.

Tycoon reporter, who goes by The Schnoz has recently caught up with Tsoi.

The Schnoz: "So, whats been the secret to your run?"

Tsoi: "Really, no secret. Some of it is luck, some of it adjusting my training and keying on important aspects. We've also been more assertive in u=our fighting plans, forcing our own game plan. Probably exploiting opponents weaknesses, better scouting. It's a matter of getting experience..both myself and my coaching staff. So yeah, no real miracles."

The Schnoz: "What are your goals now, and do you think you have reached your peak, or do you feel like you still have room to grow and improve?"

Tsoi: "Few more finishes...increase my finishing rate. It's kinda difficult, fighting top opposition, and this weight class, as you know, we tend to be more high-pace and maybe a bit less powerful than some other heavier classes. But yeah, I'd like to get to that #1 spot. I was #3 when I fought that cocksucker Cortes. I feel I should have won the fight, but he was juiced up. I also think that cost me the #1 spot. Im still pissed, but what are you gonna do? I'll try to get a crack at it again soon. I feel there is room to grow, of course. My body is holding up pretty good."

The Schnoz: "Is there anyone out there you'd like to face soon?"

Tsoi: "Well, I wanted to face the best and called out Bardanos. I want to try my hand at grappling that ace and test myself. Im not looking past him. But to answer your question....hmmm...anyone with good ranking- I'm game."

The Schnoz: "Im looking forward to your match with Bardanos, should be fireworks. Any predicitons?"

Tsoi, laughing: "Yeah, me raising my hand. We obviously will hit the ground. I will try to submit him--nothing to hide here."

The Schnoz: "Alright, I appreciate the time and I want to tell the fans to tune it, it's an excellent stylistical matchup that sees two athelesfight it out for the Evolutions 145 belt. See you all there!"

Tsoi :"Thanks!"
