Here we go again. Off the heels of a successful ICON Fight NIGHT 5, comes another successful event in Revolution XC 8. Main evented by former RXC Featherweight Champion Issumater Tariaksuq and returning veteran Arjan Kush, the main card also had two championship fights at Heavyweight and Featherweight. Without further ado, let's get down to the real meaty $hit that I know you guys have come to expect from Revolution XC.

Andile Fikizolo vs Sigurmann “Iron Man” Vignisson

Two 19 year olds, two different parts of the world (The warm climate of South Africa and the Icy north of Iceland respectively), one heck of a fight. These two got the night off poppin with a hell of a fight. Vignisson was aggressive from the start, constantly throwing punches and getting into the clinch. Fikizolo also got some points, but by the end of 3 rounds, Sigurmann ended up with unanimous 30-27 scorecards. His record is now 5-1, and has started his RXC career off to a great start at 2-0. Andile Fikizolo is now 1-1.

Bill “Wild” West vs “Soul Absorber” Kenshiro Kakashi

For the second time in two fights, Kakashi got a first round submission, this time by taking West down and nearly ripping his arm off at 1:22. Nothing much more to the fight, Kakashi is now 2-1, and West has fallen to 1-1.

Andrij Bakajovic vs Fredrick Allen “Faf” Franco

Bakajovic’s got game. He showed it by crunching Franco with a Judo flip and subsequent Rear Naked Choke. The Canadian didn’t get anything done, as his record dropped to 4-2. Bakajovic’s record has yet to be scratched, and at 4-0, he’s the man to watch in RXC’s growing Super-Heavyweight Division.

Jean Claude Jaques Guesteau vs Tainafi “Stormer” Seko

This was a weird fight. Seko seemed to be doing a better job, but Jean Claude managed to outstrike him, but just barely, and this was because Seko threw even less. This odd fight ended with scorecards of 30-28, 30-28, 30-27, a victory for Guesteau who is now 5-4. Seko has stumbled in his first fight.

Carlito “Malo” Brigante vs Jan Rudy

Coming into this fight, “Malo” seemed to be the man at 135, now Rudy has taken that thunder, and it’s up to the pole to run with it. This fight had seemingly ended by the time Rudy decided to bring this fight to the ground. Brigante was brought down and smashed repeatedly until the ref came in and stopped in right before the 3 minute mark. Jan Rudy is now 3-0, and Carlito Brigante is now 4-2.

Hop Sing “Hyun Ae” Jung vs Lamar “The Baller” Allen

I respect Jung a great deal. He’s managed to have a great career at both Lightweight and Featherweight despite being a mere 4’9 inches tall. However, this was a showcase fight for the now 5-0 Lamar Allen, and he passed with flying colors. There wasn’t a single area where he wasn’t winning, He pounded Jung on the ground, never let him get into a comfortable groove in the clinch, and beat down “Elvis The Fighter” on the feet, complete with a two punch combo that rocked Jung. While his first two fights were hit and miss, Allen’s third fight in RXC will probably be the sweetest for him. Jung is now 19-10 and on a three fight losing streak, but knowing him, he’s always one win away from going on a streak of good wins.

Michael “The Hurricane” Carter vs John Lennon

In 4 fights with Revolution XC, I don’t think Michael Carter expected his toughest outing yet to come against the Lennon. Carter got his money's worth throughout 4 rounds, but ultimately came through in the end with a TKO through ground and pound. John might have come in on short notice, but he fought like he had a full camp. He cut Carter, outstriked him on the feet and dominated in the clinch. It wouldn’t be enough, however, and he sees his record fall to 5-2. Carter, making his second title defense, is now 10-1, and he’ll have no shortage of challengers chomping at the bit for a shot at him.

Gleb Zheglov vs Bill “Blood” Brown

Brown has gotten a reputation in RXC for taking massive punishment but coming out victorious. This was not one of those nights. Zheglov had his way with Brown on the feet, scoring with 100% accuracy. Credit where it’s due, Brown managed to actually cut his opponent, but that seemed to make Gleb want to hurt him more. He got rocked shortly after that and was finished a short time later. Brown is now 5-2, while Gleb sits at 15-4, and could be fighting for a championship soon depending on the circumstances.

Dmitri “One Shot” Zaitsev vs Ilmari Kuusi

In just 17 seconds, Zaitsev wrote an entire novel on how to prove that you’re a true champion. Kuusi was simply outmatched on the feet and was Knocked Out Cold in a mere 17 seconds, his record now sitting at 9-7. Dmitri Zaitsev has gone from one of the unknown faces in the org to the most feared man in the org in a very short timespan, and the now 4-0 Champion will face another terrifying man in Papa Shango on the December 3 card.

“Arctic Frost” Issumater Tariaksuq vs Arjan “Back From The Edge” Kush

For those who don’t know him, Kush was a veteran from the Island. His last fight was against current champion Alexander Vermeer in Round 4, and his only other fight since then was a loss on the grappling circuit. Tonight, he truly lived up to his nickname. It didn’t come easy, as the first round was all Tariaksuq other than a takedown near the end. The former Featherweight champion used is outstanding kicking game to make Kush uncomfortable. The second round was the turning point, as Arhan brought down Issumater and fought for a submission until he got a Hail Mary Kimura locked in shortly after the halfway mark in round 2. Arjan Kush now sits at 15-3, while Issumater is now 13-6, and is on a t fight losing streak.

Post Fight Bonuses

Fight of the Night-Sigurmann Vignisson vs Andile Fikizola

A very fun first fight of the night between 19 year old talents. Vignisson was clearly the dominant fighter, but Fikizola wasn’t a pushover, as he gave almost as good as he got, even though it wouldn’t be enough.

Submission of the Night-Kenshiro Kakashi

Kakashi has had three fights in RXC, and while the first fight was an embarrassment for him, he’s since rattled off two straight submission victories. In this fight, he easily got Billy West down and Submitted him with a beautiful armbar.

Knockout of the Night-Dmitri Zaitsez

There’s a part of me that regrets not giving Dmitri a bonus after his big victory over Kaleva Vettenranta. He definetly earned it tonight though, no question. 17 seconds was all it took to Knockout Ilmari Kuusi and defend his beloved championship.

Conclusion

Another successful event in the bag, and next stop will be on November 11. ICON Fight NIGHT 6, which will feature two Championship fights, including the Main event, a superfight between Don Julio Cesar Chavez and Andy Fitzgerald for the Welterweight Championship. Kaleva Vettenranta will return to Light-Heavyweight to defend his championship against Antonio Silva, and Jake Belcher will look to gain momentum against the surprisingly talented Jake Tyler. Also I can’t forget, a fight between former Middleweight champion Rocco Antonio Siffredi and Buzz darling Marty Robbins.
