United Blood 2: Master Killer (Preview)

Event Preview: UB2: Master Killer
United Blood (270k+)

Author:Buff Minion

Good evening lowlifes & degenerates! Welcome to Rio's one  and only Openweight org. This will be our first official card with all non-tournament style matchups.

One thing you can expect still is that THEIR ARE NO WEIGHT CLASSES. Without further a do, here is a preview of the main card.

#12 Ante "U" Pavelic (9-5, UB Debut) v. Roy Du Toit (4-6, UB Debut) The start of our main card undoubtedly is our biggest... literally. As 260lb Croatian Kickboxer Ante "U" Pavelic takes on 290lb South African wrestler Roy "The Hammer" Du Toit.

Pavelic, a veteran of the Rio MMA scene, has some excellent highlight reel KO'S under his belt, even one from a kickboxing bout, but tends to have trouble with wrestlers.

Fortunately, for Du Toit he himself is a wrestler and gained very good success early on in his career winning 4 in a row on the local QFC circuit.

Unfortunately, for Du Toit he is on an awful 6 fight losing streak and in his last 3 he's been KO'd in under a minute. Will Du Toit turn it around and exploit the holes in Pavelic's ground game?

Or will he end up face first on the ground himself?

#14 Patrick Kopp  (3-1-1, UB 0-1) v. #17 Alex "Machine Gun" Rivera (3-3, UB 1-0) Up next, we have a battle of Yanks as New Yorker Patrick Kopp takes on New Jersey's Alex "Machine Gun" Rivera. At UB1, Kopp, a submission wrestler,  all but had victory in his grasp. He took down his opponent, maintained top position, and was working for submissions until he was shockingly caught himself marking his first loss.

Rivera, predominantly a boxer, finds most of his success when using Greco-Roman & Judo techniques strangely enough.

Rivera, who was the winner of an alternate bout at the UB1 tournament, actually suplexed his 200lb opponent over his head and proceeded to control him getting the decision albeit exhausted afterward. Amazing considering the man is about 140 lbs. Though Kopp & Rivera's last opponent are similar in size, Kopp is a way better wrestler so we'll see who takes it.

  Co-Main Event

#13 Manuel "Fera" Anjos (3-0, UB 1-0) v. #9 Maximus "Legionnaires" Meridius (10-7, UB 1-1) Our Co-Main Event is for you grappling enthusiasts. Roman grappler, Maximus Meridius, usually GnP's his opponents to a TKO but recently has showed he's adding new arsenals to his game as he earned his first submission victory over a then undefeated submission wrestler, Patrick Kopp, in Rd 1 of our tournament before being submitted himself in Rd 2. Anjos grinded out a decision win in Rd 1 of the tournament but was unable to continue to Rd 2. Though Anjos didn't get the submission that night he proved who the better grappler was between the two. In this bout, both guys are BJJ purple belts but Meridius is the better wrestler with a 40+ lbs weight advantage so we'll see how that plays a role.

Main Event

#6 Walood "The Dugong" Kassab (8-6-1, UB 1-1) v. #15 Tigey Maquigregor (6-8, UB Debut) Our final matchup is the Omani fisherman Walood Kassab against Irish striker Tigey Maquigregor. Tigey is making his debut at UB and has recently broke his losing streak on the local QFC circuit before joining us. Walood had success in Rd 1 of our tournament but lost to the tournament champion in Rd 2. Kassab can mix up his wrestling in the clinch or take it to the ground where he can pound out a victory. However, Kassab cannot take a punch to save his life as all of his losses are by KO. This is good news to Tigey as he is a very busy striker with both punches and kicks but isn't known for his KO power. The deciding factor will be if Tigey can get one good punch or kick in before the bigger man can get a hold of him .
