Island Kings Preview

ISLAND FC, Fight Organization, New York
Company profile by Justin Credible

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have one of the best looking cards thus far on The Island. Island FC brings you “Island Kings” a card with 3 title fights, and a whole hell of a lot of action. By now you’ve gotten that this is Justin Credible, and here we go…

Heath Herring v Wooden Stick starts us off with a bang! These two men are ground fighters by trait but they’re not afraid to go toe to toe and swing leather. Many view this fight as a potential Submission of the Night award winner, both of these men do not like to go to the judges, and it’s a safe bet that this fight is no different. The Green Bearded monster, Heath Herring is coming off of a big win over Admir Lichtsteiner in his last fight. It’s actually been quite difficult to find an opponent for Herring lately, as many fighter believe that he is one of the more dangerous and risky match-ups out there. Herring has stated, “I’ve been blowing up JJ’s phone nonstop trying get a damn fight, but half of these so called fighters turn me down, I want to thank Wooden Stick for taking this fight, but I’m going to have to snap him in half like a twig. (Get it?)!” Wooden Stick is a true student of the game, he rattled off 3 consecutive wins and came into IFC with heavy expectations and a huge amount of hype, only to be derailed by the voodoo of Papa Shango. He hopes a win over a respected fighter like Heath Herring will get it back on track. Stick is a master strategist and studies fights in depth, he believes that thinking and moving are the most essential part of fighting. This one is a tough fight to decide, I’m going to pick Heath Herring to win this one though.

Our first title fight comes up next with Charlie Gamma v Miesha Tate for the 135lb strap! Miesha Tate grew up with a rough childhood, his parents thought he was a she, and just kept the name. I could only imagine the torment he went through, which is probably why he took BJJ classes and became the youngest TWGC champion in history. Tate made his Island debut in the sweat soaked, bloody octagon’s of the QFC, he quickly began his rise with 3 straight submission victories, all by kimura. He was signed by IFC and was granted the rare instant title shot. He promises not to take it for granted and vows to win this title and shove in the face of his bullies… Charlie Gamma has been nothing short of great in his Island career, like his opponent he has 3 straight submission victories and has looked unstoppable thus far. He won the 135lb title in his last fight and has made it his mission to defend the title and continue his meteoric rise. Gamma is one of the most skilled and feared grapplers on The Island, when asked about his opponent being a highly decorated grappler too he said this, “You can have all the medals and trophies in the world but it doesn’t matter. The Island FC cage is much more intense than that disgusting thing they call a cage in QFC. I’ll show him just why I’m the champion and he’s the challenger. He already has a bitch name, so that will make it easier for him when I make him mine.” Yikes, some harsh words from the champ, and that’s why I’m picking Charlie Gamma to retain his title.

Another fight, another title on the line, we have Martyn Ford v Vanilla Isis for the 205lb title. Vanilla Isis (who has the best name ever, in my opinion) is no joke, he is a strong boxer with power only heard of in movies. His 3 wins have all came in the first round, with one of his opponents tapping out to strikes and then retiring afterwards. He is one scary man, when I sat down for the press conference every reporter was actually afraid to ask him a question… he just sat there staring *shivers*… Anyways Vanilla is the most dangerous striker Martyn Ford has ever faced and many think that Vanilla Isis has the technique to get it done. Martyn Ford is the most underrated champion in Island history. He’s been the underdog in both title fights, and he’s also the underdog in this one. Many though that the hard hitting Frank Karlsson was going to dethrone the champ, but Ford made it look easy. Martyn Ford said in an interview, “It doesn’t bother me if I’m the underdog. It’s worked for me so far, I have the belt, the bank account, and the women to prove I’m a winner. Karlsson was too quick on the feet, 1st round… Lee Black was too agile and couldn’t be taken down, 1st round… Notice the pattern. This is just another guy who’s going to come at me guns blazing and get submitted.” The champ seems very confident in this one, but I still have to pick Vanilla Isis in this one to win the 205lb belt.

Our Co-Main Event isn’t a title fight, but the winner will receive a title shot against the winner of our main event! Peter Potter v Heimdal The Destoryer is going to be electric. Both of these warriors are undefeated and hungry for gold. Heimdal The Destoryer came into IFC 4-0 with a ton of hype behind him, many were saying he was the best 170lb fighter on the Island and just needed the chance to prove it. He got that chance at IFC 10 and proved to his naysayers that he was legit. A quick TKO finish was all the IFC brass needed to see, they quickly gave him a No.1 Contender fight, and a win over Peter Potter would certainly validate a title shot. Peter Potter is no easy task, he is powerful man with a top notch beard! He’s had a tough road to get here and has emerged as a legit threat, he asked for this fight saying, “I want a title shot and I think that with a win over this paper contender I could reach that. He has power sure, but his cardio is questionable and so is his heart, I’m going to test both of those things in this fight.” Potter is an Island FC fan favorite, he is an overwhelming underdog in this fight though. I’m going to go against the grain and pick Peter Potter to stamp his ticket to a title shot.

Jeff Probst v Tweedle Dum IS OUR MAAAAAIN EVENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Welterweight Title Is On The LINE! Tweedle Dum is a Muay Thai practitioner with deadly striking abilities and the quickness and cardio to really pour it onto the champ. Starting out with QFC he quickly gained a following of fans due to his violent style and war lord mentality. He then signed to EMMA, easily dispatched their best fighter in just over a minute. He signed to IFC after the closure of EMMA and was given a stern test in Aleksei Ponomarenko, in which he easily won that fight and sent Ponomarenko home with a severe head injury. Tweedle Dum then demanded a title shot, which after seeing what he did to his opponent in his last fight, they agreed to give him. Jeff Probst is perhaps the most dangerous grappler on The Island, he is a brown belt in BJJ. He is sitting atop one of the most stacked divisions on The Island and many are trying to target his lacking stand-up skills. “I know people are gunning for me, I want that target on my back. They all talk a big game, but when the time comes to actually let their skills do the talking they’re quiet.” Said Probst. Many believe that Dum is going to be the one to end the Probst Era, but “The Survivor” has different plans. He didn’t get that nickname by accident, I’m picking Jeff Probst to retain his title and face Peter Potter next!
