Event Preview: USFC 83
United States Fighting Championship
2015-12-05, New York, Liberty Dome
Author:Mister Victorio

Hello what up MMA world here is Victorio and I am bringing a badass preview for USFC's upcoming event - USFC 83! The event is taking place in Liberty Dome, New York on 5th December. Just a few days to go guys! There will not have any title fights on the line but I am sure this event is going to bring the MMA community heat as USFC always does. So...let's take a look at the preview to warm yourself up!

MW bout: Borg Cloud "Number 9" (3-3, 2-3 in USFC) vs Conor "The Terrible" Vankill (0-1, 0-1 in USFC)

To kick off this event, there will have 5 MW battles in a row and this is the first one. Two MW fighters from the lower tier are going to gain some attentions. The red corner is Borg Cloud who is a boxer and a BJJ brown belt, also he puts his nickname behind his name, that's the first time I've seen that. He used to be riding a two fight win streak in USFC but dropped three in a row. He has good boxing but his main plan is to take down and submit. Anyway, his fragile defensive grappling and the inability against strikers is something letting him down. Fortunately, he is fighting a guy who can be outmatched. Conor Vankill only has one fight in MMA inside USFC banner but unable to show us what he does best. He got KO'd in 54 seconds. He has very good Muaythai and a BJJ blue belt but there is not enough evidence to show what's his style, tactics. The only thing I know is, he has bad chin and striking defense. I can't make sure if Cloud could knock him out but with his ground skills advantage, it would be a comfortable win for Cloud.

Prediction: Borg Cloud wins by first round submission

MW bout: "Carnage" Cletus Kasady (2-12, 1-9 in USFC) vs Marcus "Voodoo" Child (4-3, 2-1 in USFC)

Another MW matchup of two lower tier fighters. The red corner Cletus Kasady's has been really frustrating for him. He is experienced in USFC with 10 fights but only able to sneak a lone win. He is fighting a lot of tough opponents but the main problem is his gameplan. His skillset is decent, his tactic is just something ground fighters need to stop doing. He just keep looking for takedowns for the whole fight. Even though he can take his opponents down, he can't mount any meaningful offense. Also his defense against head kick is not so good. Interestingly, he is the former title challenger in his USFC debut. Yeah, he is far way from a title, let alone from a victory so he should completely change his gameplan against the well-rounded Marcus Child. Child is a guy who can knock his opponents out with a punch, a kick, or tap guys out. His world class Muaythai is something made of to knock Kasady out. Kasady has the ground skills to outwrestle Child or tap him out but Child has tapped out two brown belts before despite being a purple belt. And I don't see Kasady adjusting his gameplan so I think Child will score a headkick KO after Kasady completely gassed out spamming for takedowns.

Prediction: Marcus Child wins by second round KO

MW bout: Noah "II Duce" MacManus (2-2, 1-1 in USFC) vs Baby Boy Harris (6-6, 2-2 in USFC)

This MW battle is between two young talents. The red corner Noah MacManus coming off a win against someone who knocked him out before with shit tons of leg kicks. He is going to shine as a young talent against Baby Boy Harris, who is also young but has more experience. Harris is a finisher who can knock guys out with punch or kick. His power grants him 5 (T)KOs out of 6 wins and his chin lets him received 6 (T)KOs in all of his 6 losses. So this fight is going to be interesting between these two evenly-matched strikers: Is MacManus going to abandon his leg kicking gameplan and looking to knock Harris out? Can Harris score a knockout? I am guessing MacManus will still looking to take Harris with leg kicks because Harris is also a powerful striker as MacManus' last foe. Anyway, Harris will knock him out because MacManus' chin is really suspect. He almost got KO'd again in his last fight. MacManus will slow Harris down bit by bit but Harris is a "one and done" type of guy. I am calling for a second round TKO.

Prediction: Baby Boy Harris wins by second round TKO

MW bout: Butch "Just Married" Steel (1-1, 1-0 in USFC) vs George West Jr (10-6, 5-6 in USFC)

This is the rematch between two MW warriors. In their first meeting in QFC, the blue corner George West Jr TKO'd the red corner Butch Steel in the second round. This fight will be interesting to see before Steel took a ten month layoff to improve his skills. He is a much better ground fighter now and he got a win in his USFC debut. Steel used to be a BJJ white belt but now he has a brown belt. I guess Steel will be looking for takedowns to submit West Jr because West Jr, the boxing specialist is quite vulnerable to submissions. As a BJJ blue belt, he has 3 losses by submission and I can see West Jr. will try his best to defend Steel's takedowns and looking to knock him out again. So this being said, whoever can dictate their place of fighting wins, and I think Steel can win the rematch by submission. The reason is West Jr can knock any grapplers out indeed but his takedown defense is too suspect. He fought a chinny grappler Luis Cruz before but got tapped out in the first round. Also West Jr will not only be ready for countering Steel's kicks like in their first encounter, Steel has one more thing to offer to confuse him. So I have a feeling that Steel can get a finish in the first round. Let's hoping Steel's effort can pay off.

Prediction: Butch Steel wins by first round submission

MW showdown: "Rough Life" Michael Van Roost (10-7, 3-3 in USFC) vs Clarence "Sweet Feet" McGee (7-5, 1-4 in USFC)

This is the last MW fight on the card and it can deliver! Because these two men have been talking shit to eachother for a long while. And I am so excited for this fight, not only the pre-fight tension, it's also because the red corner Michael Van Roost is my fighter! He is a bloody warrior who loves to make a fight bloody, grueling and entertaining. His clinch fighting style combining with brutal elbow onslaught is what he's all about. His biggest weakness is his ability against aggressive ground fighters and he is too easily to get cut. So his two (T)KO losses are by cuts. His opponent Clarence McGee is something that can cut his face open and make him quit again. McGee has a deceptive record. I think he is a really solid striker with very good knees in the clinch and cutting elbows. He's overall a better striker than Van Roost and with Van Roost's paper face, he can win if he could keep elbowing Van Roost's head. On the feet, McGee has the boxing to outstrike him too. Anyway, I am extremely biased towards my boy Van Roost. If he wasn't my fighter, I might think McGee would win but I am hoping for a TKO victory for my boy.

Prediction: Michael Van Roost wins by third round TKO

FW bout: Walter Frost (6-3, 1-0 in USFC) vs Brain Buro (8-5, 8-4 in USFC)

This is a FW bout between two promising young fighters: one looking to rise, one looking to rebound. The red corner Walter Frost is the one who is looking to keep rising to the contender spot. He used to be managed by War Pig and has a 5-3 record and now, he has a very good start after the new management. He won his USFC debut by first round KO in more than a month ago. He is looking to get another win with his impressive one punch KO power. He can turn things around with his scary fists. His counterpart Brain Buro, or should I say Brian Buro, is also a guy who loves to punch his opponents' head off. Buro dropped two in a row recently but lost to Turd Ferguson who only lost in title fight twice and the two time title challenger Subotai Hyrkanian is not a shame at all. I always think Buro has the potential to be a contender. On paper, this fight would be a toss up and both men are boxing-oriented fighters who only loves to box so it's quite hard to tell who's going to win this one clearly. But I think Frost has more power and a better chin, and don't forget we still don't know if Buro was fully recovered yet after he dropped two fights in a row so I am guessing Frost will be the eventual winner by TKO.

Prediction: Walter Frost wins by third round TKO

WW bout: Sven "The Hen" Jergensen (6-5-1, 6-5-1 in USFC) vs Charles Bolton (9-3, 9-3)

This is a WW rematch betwee two real USFC fighters as all of their fights are in USFC. In their first meeting, the blue corner Charles Bolton KO'd the red corner Sven Jorgensen in the second round. Jergensen has a badass name as all the vowels are "e" including his nickname. Despite having a journeyman-esque record, his competition is quite high and actually he can give them tough fights too. I think it's because he is well-rounded and he would like to box, clinch and wrestle and something he is proud of is his GnP as all of his two finishes are by GnP but somehow lacking fight IQ at times. I think if Jergensen wanted to revenge, he should fight smart because actually he spammed takedowns against Bolton and got owned. Bolton is a relentless striker who is heavy-handed and has 66% TDD rate. Jergensen will need to set up his takedowns with his striking to make his takedowns more accurate. Anyway, I still don't see Jergensen getting his revenge. In their first meeting, Jergensen was able to get a few takedowns but has nothing to do with it, so I think Bolton is going to win again, even though Jergensen can land takedowns more accurately. Fighting against Bolton who hits that hard and even knocked him before. I can't see it's working for Jergensen. I am calling for a first round TKO.

Prediction: Charles Bolton wins by first round TKO

WW bout: Phol "Ksp" Murhaa (9-1, 1-0 in USFC) vs Mike "The Swine" Sioldster (10-5, 0-0 in USFC)

I think this WW matchup will be a good one as I think they are the future in the division. The red corner Phol Murhaa is the former ROV champion and just won his USFC by TKO under a minute. He is a world class striker with heavy hands and good kicks, high volume dirty boxing, also the ability to go five rounds with his opponents. He's going to bring his power and longevity against the USFC debutant, Mike Sioldster. He is a very good wrestle-boxer who has one punch KO power and smothering, high volume dirty boxing game. This fight will be an interesting one as Murhaa will kickbox and clinch Sioldster to look for a knockout, and Sioldster will box Murhaa and looking to clinch too . In standup, I favor Murhaa because he has more tools and he showed that he has superb cardio. I can't tell you who is gonna the clinch battle because both men always can land a good percentage of punches in the clinch, and they are evenly-matched, but in standup, Murhaa's leg kick will slow Sioldster down and finally paid off. Murhaa is winning this one by decision.

Prediction: Phol Murhaa wins by Unanimous Decision

Co-main event

FW showdown: Rory Williams (10-5, 3-2 in USFC) vs Lucky Day (9-6, 0-2 in USFC)

Two chinny grapplers are clashing for the co-main event! They are lesser skilled but they are exciting enough to make the fans crazy. The red corner Rory Williams is a ground wizard. He has world class wrestling and a BJJ black belt. His exceptional submission skills grant him 9 submissions out of 10 wins but he has no striking skills at all so he received 4 (T)KOs in his 5 losses. Well, I know both men aren't getting KO'd though because I am reckoning a pure ground war. His opponent Lucky Day doesn't have a real name and I wish him a lucky fight night too. He is a BJJ brown belt with decent boxing. His BJJ grants him 8 submissions out of 9 wins and his boxing grants him a quick TKO win too so I guess it can be a big role in this one. Anyway, I think Williams will win. Not only his way more superior wrestling can guarantee him an early takedown and a quick win in my opinion, he fought much tougher opponents than Day. Maybe Day has the power to finish Williams but his quick TKO win is against a 3-5 fighter who lost all his fight by (T)KO. That's why I think Williams will make a quick, neat work against Day.

Prediction: Rory Williams wins by first round submission

MAIN EVENT

FW featured bout: Turd Ferguson (9-3, 7-1 in USFC) vs Pikku Pioneeri (1-1, 1-0 in USFC)

The main event is in the FW division guys! The red corner Turd Ferguson is a real contender in the division. Seems like he can beat anyone except the dominant champ Neymar Junior because he finished all the fighters he faced who isn't named Neymar Junior. He has very good boxing with scary KO power, also he has 93% takedown defense to solidify his legitimacy. This man is looking to extend his win streak to five fights with a win over the green but talented prospect, Pikku Pioneeri. Pioneeri is a very good wrestler and a BJJ brown belt. He won his USFC debut by first round submission in his last fight. I think it's too early for him to fight such fighter in Ferguson. Pioneeri has slightly worse wrestling and the BJJ to tap Ferguson out. Ferguson hasn't faced a wrestler like Pioneeri but as a guy who mostly knocked guys out within the first two rounds, I doubt Pioneeri can weather the early storm. And Ferguson's 93% takedown defense rate is something what can make Pioneeri useless. I think Ferguson can score a knockout within two rounds. Let's don't forget how green Pioneeri is. Ferguson's experience is also a key to the win. I am hoping for a one punch KO to close the show.

Prediction: Turd Ferguson wins by first round KO

So this is the preview of USFC 83. My heart is pounding hard during the write up. I am so excited! How about you? I bet you guys are pumped up for this one too because of the wonderful matchmaking by Mr. David Morrison. I am sure this event will deliver like USFC always does! So please keep in touch with USFC and never, ever forget to watch the event on 5th December, okay? Watching it live, at a bar or stealing an illegal livestream, or whatever. Just watch it!
