Spencer Kilco reporting for £4£: The best for MMA News, Views and Reviews

This Sunday night Highland Games have their middleweight title on line when "The Italian Brawler" Massimo Benvenuti (19-4) defends it for the first time in this third reign as middleweight champion!

185lbs Championship fight: Massa Hurmaaja vs Massimo Benvenuti

Benvenuti has been here before and is a confident champion. This third reign as champion comes after a decision win over Arnavut Sevket late last month. The Italian boxer has a great record with 12 KO finishes. Yet the champ is no stranger to the ground either, with great wrestling skills Benvenuti is a dangerous fighter who will look to bully Hurmaaja (18-5) in to making a mistake. The quicker he can end this main event the happier the champion will be with a confident title defence.

His challenger will be have the opposite game plan however. The fin, Hurmaaja, is no stranger in championship fighting or beating Benvenuti. The two last fought in December of last year with Hurmaaja winning the Highland Games championship and will defiantly be looking for the same result on Sunday! With a stronger ground game that’s just where he’s going to take that fight, expect since last year Benvenuti has proven himself a better fight on the mat. It’ll be interesting to see who has become a better fight in the last eight months.

205 lbs Main Event: Mairbek Krylov vs Louis Gordon

One of Highland Games’ most popular fighters, Gordon (13-6), could put him right back in the contention spot for LightHeavy Weight’s belt. The Canadian is a fantastic mauy thai fighter more often than not being able to control the fight until he can find the KO. Krylov (9-3) is coming off a two fight win streak, the last fight against Pawel Grucha, being his most dominating fight to date. The Russian is more of a bower than anything else and will try and stay loose and wide avoiding the clinch if he stands a chance of winning his most important fight yet.

265 lbs: Mib Louie vs Artjom Fjodorow

The Russian kickboxer Fjodorow (8-4) makes his debut in Highland putting his word class boxing against the best that’s on offer. This Sunday that would be the Canadian Louie (14-7). A veteran of Highland makes his return after being away in America for six months featuring a four loss streak. He’s coming off a win now and hopes to start a steak in front of loyal supports in London. With fantastic muay thai skills expect this one to stay standing up and be full of significant strikes!

185 lbs: Peter Green vs Clark Kent

The amazingly named Clark "Superman" Kent (8-4) has not won any of his three Highland Games fights. Another loss may bump the wrestler off the card for good. He needs to take Green (5-3) ground and pound, or even stall, whatever it takes to win. Green won’t make it easy with great wrestling skills himself these two could be evenly matched. With a two loss streak Green is also going to be determined to get back in the fans good books.

205 lbs: Marcelo Strazas vs Gaius Octavius

Strazas (5-3) is a Brazilian mauy thai fighter who’s been struggling get a streak going in Highland. With the skills he possesses he has what it takes to become a contender but just need to get on a good run. I’m his way this weekend is Octavius (7-5) who is a decent boxer that somehow always finds a submission. Pretty much in the same boat Octavius has struggled to get a good run going in Highland, so expect both fighters to pull out all the stops. With this determination this could end up being fight of the night.

Lower Card:

135lbs: Zakari Moss (11-8) [American/All-rounder] vs Tyresse Thomson (5-0) [American/Muay Thai]

205lbs: Rocky Balboa (9-2-1) [Albanian/Wrestler] vs Miles Darby (5-1) [American/Wrestler]

135 lbs: Carlos Lehder Rivas (4-3) [Columbian/All-rounder] vs Stuart Dew (5-3) [Australian/Wrestler]

265 lbs: Marcu Halol (6-2) [American/Boxer] vs Calixtro Guerrero (3-2) [American/Wrestler]

135 lbs: Claudius Calaeabius (5-3) [Italian/Wrestler] vs Yuki Masakazu (3-1) [Japanese/Jiu Jitsu]
