The first contact with the MMA in Poland took place in 1996, when it Poznan Aikido instructor Charles Matuszczak after watching the first UFC gal made contact with the student Rickson Gracie, who taught him the basics of a new discipline. The first historical struggle in Poland (according to standard rules of MMA) organized during the fair Miroslaw Okniński Body bodybuilding show which was held in Warsaw 10.10.2002. Four years later, another Pole Maciej Jewtuszko after absorbing the WEC by the UFC has become the biggest player in the world federation. His adventure with the UFC lasted a very short time, not long after losing at UFC 127 with Curt Warburton was released from the contract.
Currently, a precursor Polish MMA is considered to still active in the sport: Charles Matuszczak, Miroslaw Oknińskiego, Piotr Baginski, Mariusz and Maciej Linke, Marcin Dudek, or Paul Ziolkowski.
