Michael Alvarez scores a KO at ROV 33

Fighter profile of Michael Alvarez by Rain Thunder

Michael Alvarez (7-3) fought a decorated grappler Roberto Silva (8-3) in Featherweight division at ROV 33.

"Alvarez throws a quick head kick that knocks Silva silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Alvarez is up on the ropes, taking in the applause from the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Micheal Alvarez!"

Backstage interview:

Interviewer: How are you feeling about your victory?

Alvarez: I'm feeling awesome. I came in, did my job and finished the fight, so I'm happy. I made my coaches proud and that's big for me.

Interviewer: What can you say about your opponent?

Alvarez: Nothing much... He's as much of a fighter as I am, it's just that I exposed his holes tonight, but he had the tools to expose my holes as well. But he's tough - I dropped him two times before the knockout and he still got back up. I was like man, he must be eating those head kicks for breakfast (laughs). But then I served lunch... Well, overall I'd say he's a crafty guy but today was my day.

Interviewer: The finish was really spectacular, could you talk us through it?

Alvarez: Well, fans always love Head Kick knockouts, but I don't throw for fans or anybody else. I throw strikes to be efficient and effective, as well as to accumulate damage. It just was so he was exposed to head kicks and I capitalized on it.

Interviewer: I've heard ROV is now offering you a new contract. Are you going to continue working with ROV?

Alvarez: It is a great organisation I've been with for 10 fights now. I like ROV very much, but I've got to think about all the opportunities that are available - at the end of the day, it's all about money. The more dough I make, the more I can support my family - my girlfriend, my parents, invest to my future. Right now I'm training and getting ready, because I know that now, wherever I'll sign I'll get a big fight going.

Interviewer: What do you think about the upcoming title fight in your division at ROV between Damien Redman and Tony Ramos?

Alvarez: Redman is winning this fight in 3 rounds at maximum. I fought Redman, I know how he hits, what he does. I'm not saying he's somehow amazing and incredible, while at the same time I've got to give credit for the champion, but he's not looking unstoppable to me. He's just better than Ramos, and stylistically he should own but that doesn't make him invicible in my eyes. Redman should better keep winning because I'm coming. I want a rematch, and imagine how epic it would be if we met again in a title fight? Our last fight is definetly a candidate for Fight of the Year, and a rematch for the title is nuts, especially after how much I've improved in these last couple fights. This fight will make some solid money as well as bring me the opportunity to become champion.

Interviewer: It has been a pleasure to interview you Mr. Alvarez, thank you!

Alvarez: You're welcome man, it was a pleasure for me as well.
