Event Preview: EMMA-1
Extreme MMA
2015-01-04, Hilo, Micro Arena - Hilo
Author:Mr Cropper

MMA fans from around the globe to right here in Hilo, Extreme MMA is please to present to you high octane action live from the Micro Arena in Hilo, its EMMA 1! We bring in the new year with new branding as EMMA owner Mr. Cropper scraps the former DFL label and fully embarks in a new direction. Shtaaf Reimish here to break down all 9 fights including 3 title bouts for the 145lb, 155lb and 265+ belts, as well as 2 huge fights to end the evening that will definitely set up a title challenge. Enough pre-amble, lets set up the fights!

#3 Rocky "Stonewall" Jameson (3-2-0) vs #5 Jimmy "Rage" Page (0-0-0) 135lbs

We kick off the evening with a bantamweight bout between two stand-up specialists, Rocky "Stonewall" Jameson and Jimmy "Rage" Page. Jameson came to EMMA with a 3-1-0 record out of the QFC but lost his inaugural EMMA fight by TKO in DFL I. The Boston native is a strong boxer and has really been working hard to round out his game with special attention to his wrestling. Page is a straight-up rookie making his pro debut here at EMMA 1. The 20-year-old Tokyo native will rely on his strong boxing abilities as well and hope this bout doesn't hit the mat too often. While Page may have a bright MMA future, my prediction, Jameson by TKO.

155lbs Championship Title

#3 Quick "Mike" Silver (2-4-0) vs #1 Sabed "Bad Ass" Azbuhlev (3-4-0)

In just the second fight of the evening, we present you a title bout for the vacant lightweight title between Quick "Mike" Silver and Sabed "Bad Ass" Azbuhlev! While neither fighter currently owns a winning record, both guys are peaking at the right time and hungry for the inagural EMMA lightweight belt. Silver is coming down a weight class for this bout and will look to use his well rounded repertoire of skills to combat anything Azbuhlev may bring at him. The Sydney native has won fights all three ways and will look to take this belt back home Down Under with another victory. In his way, Azbuhlev comes to us from PKFC where he used his clinching and ground work to lay the foundation for the rest of his career. The Tajikistan native will need to keep Silver within arms reach as his boxing abilities still need a lot of work. Should be a close fight. Azbuhlev by decision.

145lbs Championship Title

#3 Roland McSnifferpippitz (1-0-0) vs #1 Conor "The Notorious Carpenter" Guida (2-1-0)

In the second of two title fights of the evening, Roland McSnifferpippitz and Conor "The Notorious Carpenter" Guida will battle it out for the vacant featherweight belt. McSnifferpippitz comes to EMMA after a quick TKO in his pro MMA debut following a short collegiate wrestling career. The 20-year-old from Paris finished his pro debut in the 1st round with a hard elbow/knee combo that proved he has more that just his amazing wrestling abilities. Guida has a nice balanced repertoire of abiities that has helped him to two straight victories setting up his title shot. We first saw the Irishman at DFL 1 knocking Fitzwater around before eventually winning by unanimous decision. While one can argue whether either of these fighters has the resume for a title shot, no one can argue their abilities, which should make for an intersting fight. Guida by TKO.

#6 Lazerus "Undead Prince" Lightning (0-0-0) vs #9 Roger Villante (0-1-0) 265lbs

Into the heavyweights we go as two young fighters, Lazerus "Undead Prince" Lightning and Roger Villante hope to springboard their careers with an early victory. Lightning comes to EMMA for his first fight, and will look to open eyes with his strong boxing and wrestling ablities. The 25-year-old Denmark native has been grooming his skills for a while before accepting his first fight. Villante rings a more balanced skill set to the octagon. Born and raised right here in Hilo, Villante will look to use the hometown crowd to his advantage to bounce back from a pro debut TKO loss. Villante by Submission.

#2 Yoncy "The Wall" Lowvinceski (2-4-0) vs #6 Drew Churchill (0-0-0) 145lbs

Back to the featherweights we go as Yoncy "The Wall" Lowvinceski and Drew Churchill look to build their resumes for a future title shot. We've seen Lowvinceski before at DFL 1, where he was submitted via RNC with a second remaining in the first round. The primed Canadian will look to rebound here using a balanced attack to get back into the win column. Churchill is making his pro debut here at EMMA 1. The teenager has been working his craft for a while in the gym and will look to make an favorable impression for future title shot. Churchill by TKO.

#3 Harry Holdin (2-0-0) vs #2 Steven Parker (2-0-0) 265+lbs

Its time for the big boys to prove their abilities as a pair of undefeated fighters, Harry Holdin and Steven Parker, state their case for a shot at the superheavyweight belt. The 300 pound Holdin is really strong when the fight goes to the mat, but is willing to change focus if it results in the upper hand. The 20-year-old Dayton native has won both of his professional bouts with his fists so Parker must be aware of that natural knock-out power. Parker may possibly be the best P4P fighter in EMMA when the fights goes to the mat. Both his professional victories, including his EMMA debut at DFL 1, were ended by a Kimura submission. I expect this fight may be done in the first round, whoever may win. Holdin by KO.

265+ Championship Title

#1 Buddy "Boom Boom" Lyles (3-1-0) vs (C) Oooh Yeah (4-0-0)

In our third and final title bout of the evening, we have a superheavyweight rematch for the ages between Buddy "Boom Boom" Lyles and current title holder Oooh Yeah! Making his first title defense since his KO victory of Lyles in DFL 2, Yeah will be looking to hold off a fierce challenger looking for revenge. In the last fight, Yeah knocked out Lyles cold by a huge right hook in a fight that stayed standing its entire duration. We can expect more of the same in this one as both fighters have amazing boxing abilities but really lack the skills needed to finish a fight on the mat. Lyles will look to use the same KO power he exhibited in his 3 KO victories to begin his professional career, all which ended in under 30 seconds. Rematches are always fun, and I'll almost always take the underdog for victory. Lyles by KO.

#1 Kezz "Thorn" The Konvict (8-1-0) vs #3 "Hellraiser" Jason Fernandez (16-4-0) 185lbs

In a battle of two veteran middleweight fighters looking for another belt, we have Kezz "Thorn" The Konvict (8-1-0) and "Hellraiser" Jason Fernandez battling it out in an up for grabs weight class after Saul Goodman's mysterious vacancy. Konvict, EMMA's #1 P4P fighter, brings a little bit of everything to the table from his amazing boxing abilities to his submissions at will when the fight heads to the floor. The 25-year-old from England will be looking set up another title fight with a win here to add to his already impressive round-the-world tour to MMA organizations. Fernandez is a savvy veteran who has also seen his way to titles in multiple other organizations throughout his extensive career. After winning his first 11 professional bouts, he has hit a bit of an up and down patch, but will look to use his amazing all-around abilities to keep the much younger Konvict on his toes. The title shot is on the line for two amazing fighters, this is a fight you don't want to miss! Fernadez by decision.

#2 "Hellraiser" Helge Fossmo (23-12-0) vs #1 Joshua Osu (12-3-0) 265lbs

And now for the main event of a stacked fight card here at EMMA 1 in Hilo, "Hellraiser" Helge Fossmo takes on Joshua Osu! This fight could not have any more on the line with a sure birth to take on current heavyweight title holder Chris Byrd to be decided today in the octagon. Fossmo, a veteran on 25 professional fights, will look to use his natural KO power along with his incredible ground game to come at Osu from all angles. After losing 3 of his last 4 fights in the KOFC, the LA native decided a changed of scenery was in need and here he is, with a title shot withen his reach. Osu, who is 7 years younger than Fossma, has fought in both the 265 and 265+ weight classes, but will make his EMMA debut in heavyweight. The Bay Area native has won most of his fights with his fists, but has the abilities to submit as we saw in his last fight. Should be entertaining from start to finish with two hungry fighters making their EMMA debuts. Fossmo by submission.

Well that’s a full card full of amazing bouts to bring in the new year at EMMA 1 in Hilo! With 3 title fights and so many more with popular fighters chasing title shots, we can expect a night to remember!
