HONOR FC Vs FORBIDDEN VIOLENCE Event Preview

Event Preview: HONOR FC Vs FORBIDDEN VIOLENCE
HONOR Fighting Championship
2014-06-28, Las Vegas, The Parisian

Greetings fight fans! We here at HONOR FC have a huge event lined up for JUNE 28 right here in Vegas at the Parisian as we welcome our cross promotional event with FORBIDDEN VIOLENCE. We also have an HONOR title on the line as Tommy Cottero takes on dangerous challenger Roy Pitbull in the featherweight division. Should be yet another packed house here in Vegas as HONOR looks to continue its ascent towards upper echelon of organizations throughout the world.

Brandon "Badboy" Marsden (17-13-1) vs "Gung Ho" Vladimir Van Kirkland (19-12)

Our first fight is actually a rematch between a couple of lightweight standouts, in their last encounter Marsden won a close decision by grinding this fight out on the ground and dominating with top control. Van Kirkland proved to be a tough customer as he fended off thirty seven ground strikes and a few submission attempts as well. Van Kirkland did dominate the stand up battle but was unable to keep the fight from going to the ground. I actually see Marsden having similar success here but picking up the work rate and finishing with a sub. Van Kirklands only hope in this one is to come out swinging each chance he gets to finish his opponent with strikes.

Prediction: Marsden via Sub round 2

"THE ASSASSINATOR" Mikael Johansson (23-13) vs "Go" Phukyorselvf Uzannavabizch (28-11-1)

Absolutely nothing between these two great light heavyweights as they are each very tough and incredibly well rounded. They each love to push the pace and win with hard strikes, both fighters even sport great chins going into this one so it's basically a coin toss. "Go" is coming in off of a KO loss so I'm going to favor Johansson after an absolute slug fest.

Prediction: Johansson via (T)KO round 2

Oberyn "Steel" Martell (15-8) vs "The Impaler" Vladimir Ignatov (9-3-1)

Both of these men are KO specialists with several victories over tough opponents. Ignatov is coming off of highly controversial decision victory and I think it will lead to an increase in his work rate and make him even hungrier to go for the finish. Martell is coming off of a decision loss himself where he was essentially destroyed by his opponent but still somehow managed to avoid being finished, needless to say this man is incredibly tough. I do think Ignatov has the ability to win but he needs to avoid the power of Martell which I think combined with his chin will be the deciding factor in this fight.

Prediction: Martell via (T)KO round 2

James "Java Man" Avalon (20-11) vs Jules Winnfield (21-14)

Two more world class guys here who are absolutely dead even and coming off of violent knockout victories. Sixteen of Winnfields wins come via TKO while zero come from submissions. Avalon has proven to be a bit more dangerous on the ground despite his boxing background boasting six submission victories. I expect this to be a great battle with a big time KO stoppage, however the fact that Avalon could take this to the ground and grind it out is an interesting wrinkle we may see him throw into his game plan. I think the fact that Avalon is more well rounded could prove to be the difference here.

Prediction: Avalon via (T)KO round 3

Doug Graves (24-14) vs Drazen Kadoic (28-17)

This is just a perfect example of awesome matchmaking. Both of these guys have an incredible resume that boast double digit KO victories as well as a plethora of diverse skills. Graves is actually a very interesting character, he has a high level ground game but refuses to utilize it as he always looks to brawl and finish with strikes. Kadoic has insanse power and twenty KO victories to back that claim up, the other big thing he has over his opponent is a granite chin. I would like to see Graves take this to the ground and show us all his great BJJ, but history tells me this won't happen. I predict the tougher standup fighter in Kadoic to win this one standing.

Prediction: Kadoic via (T)KO round 1

"Wittertainment" Mayo Kermode (21-11) vs Jermaine "The Juggernaut" Barksdale (15-6)

Another matchup here between two guys who love to strike, Mayo has an impressive fifteen KO wins while his opponent Jermaine is living up to the billing of being called "Juggernaut" by having nine KO victories of his own. Surprisingly despite the experience difference Barksdale has a slight technical advantage but this one is probably going to come down to cardio and effective striking. I can see these guys slugging to a decision but I expect a flash KO after a strong start.

Prediction: Barksdale via (T)KO round 2

Marlon "The Predator" Worthy (27-17) vs Super Hans (26-10)

A couple of BJJ blackbelts stepping into the cage here although judging by his record grappling means very little to Worthy as he has zero victories by way of submission. On the other side of the cage we have Hans, who is a well known submission specialist who uses his technical striking to set up takedowns where he can outwork and finish his opponent on the ground. Worthy can ground grapple with Hans for sure but I think his aggressive stand up style will lead to quite a few takedowns from Hans and with it, points being scored.

Prediction: Hans via Decision

Tommy "The Terror" Cottero (26-9) vs Roy "The Wardog" Pitbull (26-12-1)

Our co-main event is a a title fight in the featherweight division between a couple of guys with great killer instincts. This is another fight where there truly is nothing significant talent wise between these two fighters, simply put they are world class at every aspect of MMA. The most notable statistic to me is that our champion Cottero has been KO'd a staggering six times in his career and Pitbull after nearly a decade of tough fights has never been finished. Perhaps Cottero can properly game plan and walk away with a victory but I see the challenger using his supreme strength and athleticism to finish this one.

Prediction: Pitbull via (T)KO round 3

Augustus "Deadshot" Belmont (26-12) vs Dack Fayden (14-5)

Our main event is between two incredibly popular fighters and has huge title implications within the division. Red hot Dack Fayden; who is riding a five fight win streak will square off with the ultra experienced Augustus Belmont who is coming off of a major KO victory over Mao Zedong. Belmont has a significant advantage on the feet here and will look to use his stone like hands to finish Fayden. In fact Fayden's only real hope of winning is a ground battle; although he did just finish the former champ with strikes; getting through the take down defense of Belmont is no easy task and I am not sure his improved stand up will be up to the task. I expect this to be a quick TKO for Belmont.

Prediction: Belmont via (T)KO round 1

Another great night of fights planned here for the fast growing HONOR FC, each guy has a legitimate chance of winning and if i were a betting man I would avoid this one all together, but whats bad for the gamblers is great for the fans! This will be an exciting night of evenly matched world class opponents.
