Malevolent 10: Idea vs. Canada! PREVIEW eh!

Event Preview: Malevolent 10
Malevolent Inc.
2012-04-15, Las Vegas, Hard Knocks - Las Vegas
Author:K Rad

Good day esteemed fighting fans and fanatics.  My name is K-Rad and I am the outrageously good looking and charming host for this weekends M10: Idea vs. Canada.  Some of you may only know me as the housewive's choice, but no matter by which name you know me I am super pleased to introduce you to this week's card, courtesy of Malevolent.  We have 10 fights on the card with the main event a lightweight title fight between the aforementioned Idea and Canada which is going to be a real rip snorter.  Come with me as we explore all of the fights on the card:

Cmon Man vs. Shalako Carlin
Welterweight

We kick off the card with two welterweights who have had disappointing starts to their professional MMA careers.  Man and Carlin are both still chasing that elusive 1st win and tonight, assuming they both make weight, are on time and don't manage to pull out a draw, one of these men will finally get it.  It should be an interesting fight and I wouldn't let their awful records make you feel like you can come late and miss the 1st fight because Man has some great boxing which he has thus far been unable to showcase and whereas Carlin is outmatched on his feet, he does have the capacity to take Man down and put his superior jitsu to work.  The real decider for my mind is how hard Man hunts for the knock out.  If he really wants it and aggressively chases it, this should be his fight and early on too.  Given my love of the KO I am going to go with this thesis and back Man to take the knock out win.

Gregory "Sandman's Son" Matice Jr vs. "Badarse" Robert King
Lightweight

Keeping the underwhelming fighter trend coming is "Sandman's Son" Jr who is 0 from 2 and "Badarse" King who is mixed at 1 and 1.  This is a great opportunity for one of these men to step up and put the past behind them but this might be difficult for "Badarse" as his awful morale may well mean he hasn't the heart to put up a worthy challenge.  Jr has great wrestling and a purple belt which should allow him to bring King to the mat and a submission win but King scored his victory in super quick time against a fellow blue belt in his last match so it will be interesting to see if he is perhaps under playing his grappling game for a tactical advantage.  I am going to back the underdog and support King to overcome his lack of morale and claim another submission victory.

"Rezurrected" Buri Grimnir vs. Erol "The Master" Ottis
Heavyweight

Potential for a highly entertaining fight here in the heavyweight division as the debutante "Rezurrected" Grimnir takes on the undefeated after 3 "The Master" Ottis.  The younger fighter Grminir has the standup advantage whereas Ottis holds the ground game.  As usual in this kind of situation the ability to wrestle becomes the key to success for both men and with exceptional wrestling on both sides of the cage I have to think that this will be a standup war and with this in mind I think that "Rezurrected" is in a strong position to take his first ever professional win and quite possibly via knock out.

Shingo "Kamikaze " Tanaka vs. Steve "Teddy Bear" Dudley
Welterweight

The boss has really done a great job of creating some exciting matchups this week as "Kamikaze" Tanaka and his great boxing takes on "Teddy Bear" Dudley and his great wrestling.  This is a fight that is going to rely absolutely on which fighter is the most aggressive as the first to get his hands on the other is going to win this.  If Tanaka can tag Dudley, the lights are out, but if he can't get in first then "Teddy Bear" is going to take him down and pound him through the mat.  I am really looking forward to seeing who can assert themselves here and given that Tanaka is yet to win a fight in the 1st round whereas Dudley has scored a KO in 10 seconds I feel it is "Teddy Bear" who is better suited to this style of matchup and I think he is going to turn out "Kamikaze's" lights.

Stan "Stampede" Pede vs. John Triton
Light Heavyweight

The last fight of the undercard starts to bring some experience into the cage as "Stampede" Pede and Triton look to improve on mixed records.  This is a fairly one sided fight in my opinion as Pede relies on decent wrestling and a brown belt to win against an opponent who not only has a brown belt of his own and better wrestling but Triton also has some decent boxing to allow him to stand and bang.  This leaves "Stampede" in no man's land as far as I am concerned and I expect Triton to control the distance and where this fight takes place which will allow him a decision win at worst or, as I'd prefer it, his 1st professional KO victory.

Jynkka Levanen vs. Karl Michaels
Light Heavyweight

More 205lb warriors hit the cage to get the overcard started and just for the fans it is a battle between two currently undefeated up and coming combatants.  Michaels has some really solid standup which he will use to try to batter Levanen who will be focusing on using his better wrestling and brown belt to get the fight down and control the action from the mat.  In terms of size and energy there isn't much to separate them so it will just be a matter of wrestling ability and I think that Michaels should have the ability to keep this fight standing long enough to land some big fists and notch up another knock out win.

Ruud "God's Gift" Blaylock vs. Atticus Finch Kill A Mocking Bird
Welterweight

"God's Gift" Blaylock and Bird look to establish themselves as true champions of Malevolent's welterweight division in what is looking to be a fairly one sided event.  Blaylock has all of the aces with superior striking and grappling but Bird has shown great heart in stepping up to this fight as well as a surprising ability to work his blue belt for great submission effect.  What is going to be of most concern for Bird is his current lack of a management team which is going to be affecting his training and strategy formulation going into this fight and this I think is going to be the straw which breaks the metaphorical camel's back as Blaylock should be able to score a knock out here tonight.

Pedro "The Stranger" Rua vs. "Byeee" Relentless AD
Lightweight

Fresh from EUFC, "The Stranger" Rua is looking to make his mark on Malevolent by taking on the fan favourite "Byeee".  If you thought the previous bout was looking a touch one sided then you don't want to see the odds going on this fight.  The excellent striking, wrestling and jitsu of Rua is taking on the average striking, wrestling and jitsu of AD.  Good luck AD.  Just to add to the similarity of the last fight, "Byeee" is also currently a free agent and will not be at his best which is going to be the final nail in the coffin as "The Stranger" will be expected to walk through a very simple KO win.

Thor Skank vs. "The Killing Machine" Gunner Malone
Light Heavyweight. Co-Main Event!

A great matchup in the co-main event as two solid emerging talents of the 205lbs division, Skank, a long time title holder in the organisation and a real hit with the fans, takes on Malone in a rematch of a fight which saw Skank defend his title back in early December last year.  Malone was unsuccessful then and Skank isn't the champion now so it will be great to see how the changing times affect the outcome of this fight as both men have bugger all ground work but some beautiful standup which is going to ensure the fans have a real slugfest on their plate as both men try their best to turn out the other man's lights.  Skank managed to make it look easy last time with an early 1st round win but I don't think it will be so easy for him this time.  With that said, I feel Skank's management team has a better record against quality opponent and this experience should allow him to overcome Malone with strategy and eventually notch up another KO win and put him back in contention to reclaim his title.

"This is" Bad Idea vs. "Sucks To Suck, Sucker" Air Canada
Lightweight. Main Event TITLE FIGHT!

The main event is a real pants wetter as the champ, Idea, looks to defend his title for the 4th time and keep his 8 fight win streak going strong.  For Canada's part, this is his opportunity to reclaim a crown that was originally his but brutally snatched via TKO by Idea in late January this year.  I personally am not so confident in Canada's chances as Idea is a brutal standup striking who also outclasses Canada big time in terms of wrestling and jitsu which will allow him to not only defend his belt but to take his time and decide how he does it, by KO or by submission.  Given Idea is yet to actually win a submission win I think that should be a pretty good indication of which one he would prefer and I think the real question here will be how long can Canada survive before he goes to sleep?

That's it from me, K-Rad, and the impending awesome that is Malevolent 10: Idea vs. Canada.  Make sure you're there to see the fights as they're going to be spectacular and if you can't make it, well, in the words of a soon-to-be-hospitalised title contender "Sucks to suck, sucker".
