Event Review: HONOR Wednesday Warfare XI
HONOR Fighting Championship

Attendance:2,000, Event Rating:149
Author:

Well everyone that has ever been involved with company business knows that the day comes when last week’s celebration is this week’s failure. Do I think that this Wednesday Warfare was a failure? No, absolutely not, but if this was a publicly traded company Dan Monk would be talking to stock holders right now. The event rating was 148 which is something I know Dan celebrated this month, but after the last few events soaring into the 200 hundreds this could feel like a letdown. Honor has dropped to being ranked thirty eight globally and people may be upset about that, but you must remember three weeks ago we were doing whatever we could to get to this position. Because of the amazing managers and great fighters we have here mixed with a tremendous owner we share I know cracking the top twenty is not that far away.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Ayrton "BigFoot" Silva defeats Karl "The Megalomaniac" Stromberg

Well I obviously did not want to make a prediction on a fight that I was involved in. As I mentioned I manage Karl Stromberg and we talked a lot about the ground game for this fight. We have been working on Karl’s stand up game but he was not confident enough to know that he was ready to stand up and fight. So he quickly took Silva down and tried to pound him out quick, but the brown belt was able to secure a guillotine from the bottom and submit Stromberg at 0:25 of the first round. Karl and I where both disappointed but he is heading back to Finland today so we can get back to work next week.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Jack "The Bottle" Daniels defeats Jon "Hard Fast" Moxley

Alright so I start my predictions off the same way I started my night managing with a big loss. I just could not see the sixteen year old being able to beat the eighteen year old Moxley. Daniels landed a punch to start the fight out and it cut Moxley and then he followed it up with a combination that send Jon to the floor. Jack jumped on top and the referee was right behind him to call a stop to the fight at 0:11 of the first round. Jack Daniels is the winner by TKO via strikes.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Middleweight Bout (185lbs)

Robert "Chop" Decker defeats Dalton "Black Killer" Ismith

Are these match ups getting this hard to predict or is this some elaborate scheme to discredit me? Maybe I have been watching way to many episodes of House of Cards lately but the way my predictions have gone lately it makes me wonder if someone is after my job. Just thought about it, and yes I have watched too much television lately. Still I don’t see how Ismith could have lost to the under prepared Decker. Plus Ismith was only able to land a single strike before being takedown to the ground with ease. Once his back hit the mat it was almost as if he had no idea where he was at all. Decker started throwing bombs at him as he worked submissions. At 2:48 of the first round Decker locked in an arm triangle that Ismith was not able to defend getting him the upset victory.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Reginald Leslie defeats Bud "King Of Beers" Weiser

I got one right finally! This was even a tossup fight with both of these guys coming into this fight with losing Honor Fighting Championship records. I had Bud winning the first round as he was able to land three takedowns. Leslie was able to get back to his feet every time but neither fighter did anything to impress me except for landing three takedowns in one round. Round two was a brand new story as Leslie was able to stuff every takedown attempt from Weiser, and not only that he was able to lock up in the clinch a few times as well. Inside the clinch it was all Leslie as he landed over twenty knees and ten elbows. After being knocked down for the second time in the round by a knee to the head the referee stopped the fight. Reginald Leslie was declared the winner at 3:40 of the second round by TKO do to strikes.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Josh "The Chris Bosh" Laston defeats Dario "The Killer" Silva

Right after being up we have to get crushed right back down to reality. This is the fourth fight I offered a prediction on and it is my third loss so far. Maybe I should stop ending my previews with a prediction. Laston did nothing but look for takedown attempts and Silva was defending well while making him pay for it by delivering a mess of low kicks. Silva did get taken down once but he was able to force a standup but he could not do that a second time. Laston was able to do whatever he wanted on the ground the second time threw and he was able to eventually lock on an armbar. Silva tapped out giving Laston the submission victory at 4:38 of the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Featherweight Fight (145lbs)

DeMario "McDojo Blackbelt" Williams defeats Flash "Light" Gordon

Williams destroyed Gordon in this fight. How Flash didn’t get knocked out in the early stages of round one is beyond me. Williams locked on a tight clinch early in the first round and went to town with punches to the head and body. It was about four and half minutes of DeMario landing punch after punch on Gordon. Round two was much of the same with Williams locking in the clinch nice and early and then going to work. Gordon’s heart was eventually defeated after the he was dropped to his knees and the referee had to save him at 3:14 of the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Lightweight Title Fight (155lbs)

Julius Caesar defeats Oscralo "Granalo" De Santiuya

So this is what a winning streak feels like. Not just for Caesar who has now won six fights in a row three of which have been title fights but also for me as I now have picked two in a row correctly. Caesar opened up the fight by cutting De Santiuya open. He then moved the fight into the clinch and Oscralo was able to pull guard. Before Caesar could do anything with it the two fighters where stood up. De Santiuya wanted to take it back to the mat and he scored a takedown. He then became very aggressive but Caesar was able to finally transition to being on top. Some very fierce ground and pound was able to end the fight by TKO when the referee stepped in at 3:55 of the first round declaring Julius Caesar as still Honor Fighting Championship Lightweight Champion!

Main Card Bout Number 3- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Oberyn "Steel" Martell defeats Nathan "Elbow" Summers

Summers took me by surprise in this fight. Martell came out firing away and Summers could have just went down but he didn’t. Martell land a flush shot that busted Summers open but that seemed to just anger Summers. He quickly took Martell down and started looking for submissions. Martell did a great job defending and he took to a little offence while on the ground and he easily won the round. To start off the second round Martell lands a massive kick that hit Summers right in the neck dropping him and it was followed up by a few punches before the ref could intervene. Martell was declared the official victor by TKO at 0:05 of the second round via TKO by kick and punches.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Khru "Big Buddah" Maokhamphiou defeats "Dangerous" Phillip Finnegan

I knew this would be tough fight to pick and if you remember I left it up to a coin flip. I went with the red corner and called it by head kick and I was wrong with the head kick but everything else was dead on. Khru did get the win by TKO in the first round but it came by strikes inside the clinch. Finnegan was just as active inside the clinch but he couldn’t land anything from there. Khru was landing big shots while he was trying not to concern himself with the huge cut on his face from the first ten seconds of the fight. Khru eventually rocked Finnegan and then he went for the kill throwing nothing but power shots and Phil was able to avoid a lot of them but you can’t run for ever and a big powerful shot dropped Finnegan and the referee stopped the fight. The official decision is Khru "Big Buddah" Maokhamphiou is your winner at 2:46 of round number one by way of TKO do to strikes.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

"Mangeur de bine" Adelard Desormeaux defeats James James

This was the make or break fight for me tonight. Going into this fight I am four and four on predictions and I took James to win by TKO in the first round. That was not the case as Desormeaux took James down early and the two exchanged submission attempts while grappling on the mat Desormeaux turned up the heat at the end of the round and I think that edged it for him. I scored the first round ten to nine for Desormeaux. James opened up a cut above the eye of Desormeaux early in round two and then he decided to take his chances on the ground by taking Adelard to the ground. Once again they traded submission attempts with Adelard trying more but James controlled more of the fight so I gave him the round ten to nine. This is what it all comes down to, round number three and it’s all tied up at nineteen to nineteen. James took Desormeaux to the ground early to start off the round and then Adelard became the more aggressive fighter. James may have had control by positioning but Adelard was doing more to try and finish this fight. I gave him the round ten to nine barlely and him winning the fight twenty nine to twenty eight. Not one single judge agreed with me with the three of them judging the fight 29-29, 27-30, and 28-30 for the winner by majority Adelard Desormeaux.

There was some crazy fights on this card and some of them where great. That main event was crazy with thirty plus submissions being attempted, so much ground work. There was some crazy TKO’s and some sweet submissions. This event had it all except for a two hundred plus rating but we are getting there with all of your help. See you soon for the preview of Honor FC 12.
