Barbarian FC 9

Event Preview: Barbarian FC 9
Barbarian Fight Club (ID 230K+)
2014-03-22, Rio de Janeiro, Hayashi's Lounge - Rio
Author:Tony Rossi

We have a huge double main event for you this evening with some interesting match ups which include a second lightweight matchup and new comer Rocco LeBaron takes on heavyweight contender hopeful Jermain "Big Nasty " Johnson to go with the two big fights. MANGO nutrition and Barbarian Betting will be our partners for the event which takes place on Saturday March 22nd at Hayashi’s Lounge in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Bruno "Bear" Oliveira (0-1) {0-1} versus Paulo "Paulinho" Vieira (2-2) {1-2}

Oliveira is a twenty one year old Muay Thai striker who lost his debut by getting dominated on the ground. The strange thing is Bruno was the one who scored both takedowns in the fight. If he trys to do that in this one I am sure things will go just as bad for him. He will need to keep this fight standing and possibly in the clinch. Vieira has been TKO’ed twice which accounts for both of his losses. He will want to stay away from the clinch but if he gets trapped in there he should look to pull guard. We all have seen how bad Oliveira is on the ground and Paulo will end the fight quick if it hits the ground. I cannot see Vieira losing this fight and I’m picking him to win by submission in the first round of this fight.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Lance "White Dragon" Milliwan (1-1) {0-1} versus Ronaldo "Souza" The Submission (1-0) {1-0}

Milliwan lost his last fight which was his Barbarian FC debut. He lost that fight by submission but this brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has his only win by submission. In this fight he will not have the advantage on the ground and his defensive grappling is a little weak and that’s what cost him to lose in his last fight. He has to let the fight get to the ground but he must remain on top if he wants to win. Souza has the better wrestling and the better stand up so he should be comfortable standing up or down on the mat. Since Milliwan is only dangerous on the ground he may want to stand up, but I would go with what you know and look for a takedown and submission. The sky is the limit for Souza and I see great things for him in the future. I have The Submission winning by submission in the first round of this fight.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Jan Jankowski (3-3) {1-2} versus Kesigan "Powerbomb" Hendricks (1-1) {0-1}

Janowski is just built to win this fight. He has better stand up and better Jiu Jitsu. Jan is not over the top better in the striking so while this fight is standing he will still need to be careful but I am sure he will want to be on the ground for this fight. Hendricks is a ground fighter as he is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and decent wrestler. I don’t think he will be able to submit Jankowski but he might be able to out wrestle him and take this fight to decision. I don’t see that happening I am picking Jankowki to come out of his losing streak with a first round submission in this fight.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Yoko "Jelly" Zuna (3-0) {2-0} versus Tim "The One" Thedford (1-1) {1-1}

We have seen both of these guys fight twice in BFC. Zuna is a perfect two and o since coming here and he has improved his record to three and o overall. Zuna is a ground and pound wrestler and he has won all three of his fights by TKO and two of those came in the first round. Thedford lost his last fight to Rocco LeBaron in a fight that I think he just threw to many kicks. He will not want to throw so many kicks in this fight since he does not want to be taken down. He should look to land leg kicks mixed with punches to start the fight, and then work his way up with the kicks in the latter rounds. This should be a great fight and I am going to pick Zuna to win in the second round by TKO as I think his wrestling is just to good for Thedford.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Patrick "It's paddy's Day " Mc GInnley (2-1) {1-1} versus Chin HoKelly (2-3) {2-3}

This will be are second heavyweight fight in a row and this one should be just as good as the last. Both of these guys are sluggers and if you want to see two guys stand toe to toe and slug it out then you will not want to miss this fight. Now I think Patrick is not as good of a striker as HoKelly but if he gets into trouble he can try to take it to the ground. I want to pick HoKelly in this fight but I can’t, I am picking the luck of the Irish Patrick Mc Ginnley to win by TKO in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Super Heavyweight Fight (265+lbs)

Jonny "Bigboy" Daniels (3-0) {0-0} versus Roy "Sir Knockalot." Bane (3-1) {3-0}

Daniels is a bit of a jack of all trades type of fighter, and that may not be a great thing. He will be looking to take Bane to the ground where he will have a huge advantage. Daniels has won a fight by submission and he should be looking to pick up his second one in this one. Bane is a striker who has won two fights by submission. He does have a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and if the fight goes to the ground he will look for a submission. I think if Bane keeps the fight standing he is sure to win, but if it goes to the ground it could go either way. I am going to pick Bane to win by TKO in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Rocco LeBaron (3-0) {1-0} versus Jermain "Big Nasty " Johnson (3-2) {1-2}

Rocco won his debut in Barbarian Fight Club with a second round TKO of Tim Thedford. He will look to improve to two and o in BFC and four and o in his career by taking on Jermain Johnson. LeBaron has a huge advantage in the striking department and these two are about equal on the ground. If the fight stays standing I don’t see how Johnson can win. Obviously he will try and get this fight to the ground since he does not want to get knocked out. Once on the ground he should look to point grapple and wrestle out a decision win since he does not want LeBaron to have a chance of sweeping or getting up. This should be a very interesting fight, but I think LeBaron will win this fight by TKO in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Roro Rorowski (4-1) {0-0} versus Yoshido "Ninja " Nakamara (3-1) {0-0}

These two future stars of Barbarian Fight Club’s lightweight division should have a great fight. This will be the classic striker versus grappler in this one. Rorowski is the striker as the twenty five year old fighter is a Muay Thai striker. He should look to use low kicks to wear down Nakamara and then go for the clinch, as it would be much easier to avoid guard being pulled. Nakamara does have some stand up but he excels on the ground. One take down and this fight could be seconds away from being over. Nakamara needs to remember that this fight cannot turn into a strike fest but he should feel confident enough not to just repeatedly press for a takedown. I got Nakamara winning by submission in the second round in what could be the fight of the night.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Andokuhle "Pumba" Congo (3-1) {2-1} versus Cheech "Tokemaster" Marin (3-0) {2-0}

The winner of this fight should be talked about as the number one contender. Congo’s only loss in his career came against the current champion in the first round of the title tournament. Congo could put up a better fight since Newton is taking a little time off it would allow him to work hard on his takedown defense. Marin is undefeated so far in his professional career. He has won one fight by decision and his last two wins have come by submission. If he can get Congo to the ground I am sure we will see something similar to what we seen in the Newton Fight. Marin will not be able to stand up with Congo at all though, and he should look to avoid the clinch if at all possible. The way I see this one going down is Congo gains the cling, Marin pulls guard, and then Marin gets the submission victory from the bottom in the first round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Zachary "Zap Zap" White (5-1) {3-1} versus Kores "Mibon" Sierra (8-3) {3-1}

This is top talent in the lightweight division here in BFC. White is a stand up striker who has some heavy hands. He has five professional wins all of them coming by TKO or knockout. He seems to feed off of ground fighters and he loves to knock them out. He has yet to be beat by a grappler as his only loss came against the Lightweight Champion Pepe Lepew. Funny enough the last fight that Sierra lost was also to Pepe Lepew. Sierra is a great grappler and if he can get White down White will be in a lot of danger. What worries me the most though is all three of Sierra’s losses have come by knockout and with White’s heavy hands I don’t think Sierra will have a lot of time to get the fight to the ground. I am going to pick White to win by knockout in the first round of this fight.

This is one of the best aligned event cards I have ever seen. The whole thing just builds and builds until the explosion at the top of the card with the main and co main events. Make sure stop by Barbarian Betting and get your money down while you still have time. If there are tickets available you will want to pick those up as well since this is just an amazing line up of matches. So long for now and I will see you for the next event preview.
