Q: Today I have with me a prospect who is set to make his professional debut soon. Tom Quin is an 18 year old mixed martial artist from Holland. Now Ive been told youre currently residing in Montreal, is this correct?
Tom: That is correct, Im one of the many prospects that will compete in a tournament to crown the LFCs 145 champion. I have my wonderful manager Alika Webb to thank for that.
Q: Wow, for a fighter who hasnt even made his pro debut yet, that has got to be an honor, right?
Tom: of course its an honor, this tournament can make or break a persons career and I plan to make the best of it.
Q: So do you plan to win the whole thing?
Tom: Its a little early to think about that, I dont even know my first opponent yet.
Q: But surely you have done your homework already. Have you scouted a few opponents yet?
Tom: Not really Im just working my butt off in the gym. Trust me no matter who my opponent will be I guarantee you he will not have worked harder than me.
Q: Now tell me worst case scenario, you lose your first match, what will you do then? Since you dont know your opponent lets say theres a 50 percent chance youll lose what will you do then?
Tom: Thats actually what I like so much about this tournament, whether you win or lose your first match youre still in the tournament. Winners go to division A, losers to division B and the winners of those divisions will face each other for the title.
Q: So a good strategy might be to lose the first fight on purpose so you can fight lesser opponents?
Tom: Thats one way to look at it, but you never know in MMA. Anyone can be beat. That goes double for us greenhorns, weve all got holes in our game, it just takes the right strategy to win.
Q: Thank you for your time, I hope to hear from you soon and good luck with the tournament.
